D&D (2024) Do you like the Purple Dragon Knight Subclass?

I like it but feel it does need some tweaks.

As long as the banneret gets a similar revamp to give it warlord themed manoeuvres, I'm fine with them diverging.

Nothing in 5e fulfills the need for a 4e-style Warlord. A 5e version needs to be its own proper 5e 2024 class. The Warlord cannot be a subclass. A subclass lacks the design space to do what a Warlord needs to do. Moreover, the Warlord has its own significant subclasses.

With regard to the (Purple) Dragon Knight, I like it. Dragon riders are an important archetype, and the Dragon Knight does it in a fun way.

The Gem Dragons need love, and the psionic mindlink flavor works well. I would be open to opening up the class to any Gem Dragon. (Opening up to any Dragon type creature would be fine too.)

Within the context of Forgotten Realms lore, the "faction" of "Purple Dragon Knights" is appropriate. There might be other gem colors as other factions, especially in other settings.

That is excellent point and really well articulated. I'm stealing this sentence in the future when I need to explain the difference. Although Time Travel blurs the difference.
