I'm torn in two directions, myself. On one hand, I'm loving the show and where it's going. I never saw the original show, only being peripherally aware of it, but peripherally aware enough to have made a solid point of putting this show on my (fairly limited) TV To-Watch list. The problem is, I really, really like Chris Eccleston as The Doctor. Which brings on the other hand.. that there's only 1 more episode wherein he'll still BE The Doctor before the other guy takes over.

I was kind of starting to really like Captain Jack, too. He's just SO sterotypically American in the midst of a bunch of Brits ("Am I naked in front of millions of people? Ladies, your numbers just went up." That was a great line, and he delivered it perfectly).

I'm really going to miss this Doctor, regardless of how the new one does.
I feel the same way about Eccleston, and was really sad to see him leave the part. But I'm really enjoying David Tennant's performance too. I'd find it difficult to say which one I like best now. :)

I'm waiting anxiously for the Torchwood spinoff to see more of Captain Jack's cheekiness. ;)

I suspect that the reality TV spoof might play a bit better over here, because all the voices you hear belong to the people who host the 'real' versions of those shows here. I found that the initial humour was also particularly strong as a counterpoint to the later tension. But what sold the episode for me, more than anything else, was the Doctor's reaction to Rose's 'death'. Even in repeat, knowing everything that comes next, that's still powerful.

But, as good as this episode was, just wait until next week...

Here being where? Are you in the UK?

I recognized all the shows they spoofed, as they all have an american version, and thought it funny how much we steal from British TV. Not only do we not require writers for reality shows, we don't even have to pay anyone to come up with a premise! Just swipe it from another country. And I think the original run of Weakest Link had the same host as the original series.

I've even seen the "What Not To Wear" british version. Those chicks are a bit more cheeky than their american counterparts - perfectly willing to let someone know when they look like a cow... :uhoh:

Yeah, gotten new steam with Eccleston's casting. But it'll probably only be six episodes, the normal length for a UK series.

Wow, that makes me enthused for it. Although I don't see there being any room for middle ground, it'll either be great or completely suck.
