And while I'm dropping hints about campaign setting specific adventrues, fans of Mystara/The Known World and of Planescape will probably recognize some proper nouns in a couple of 2007's adventures as well...

Darn you, Bargle.

Clerics deserve short lives. I mean why else do they serve their gods if not to join them later on?

Anti-Sean,

I kill irony good. :)

But she was only an NPC! She had no reason to die!

DAMN YOU, BARGLE!

Everything that dies lives again NiTessine. You should know that by now. :p :)

I think I actually had a heart attack when I saw this thread's title. "....Again? And here's me thinking the board crash killed this topic." :-)

Yup; it's true. There haven't been many FR or Eberron adventures of late. Believe it or not. we HAVE been asking for them... we just haven't been getting many in. Certainly not enough to have several per year.

Like questions about the lack of psionics, epic, OA etc adventuers in Dungeon, this will always be the main point. If there aren't any coming in, they won't exist. Paizo have made it clear they're interested in them, but people seem to stick to generic adventures since they (in my opinion, correctly) believe they'll have a better chance f being published and played.

I'm not going to make any promises about what's coming in the next several issues, since things change all the time, but at this point, we've got three Eberron and one Forgotten Realms adventures waiting in the wings for publication; these four will all see print in 2007. I'm hoping to get in some more to bolster their ranks. And we do have Keith Baker and Eric Boyd providing advice on how to adapt the Savage Tide Adventure Path to Eberron or Forgotten Realms.

Couple this with the recent news that Dragon is going to start adding in FR and Eberron stuff in every issue, and it seems clear that published campaign sare getting some more love from Paizo. ;-)

That sounds interesting. Bargle's manipulation of the Great Modron March is one I'll buy sight unseen. ;-)

I thought it was this topic that crashed the boards.

Peace and smiles :)

The less setting specific material the better, IMHO.

Anyway, it usually takes a lot less effort to convert generic to specific than vice-versa. ;)

Agreed, on both points.
I like the occasional setting specific module but generic is best for the majority.

Folks,

This kind of stuff helped make the previous threads on this topic rancorous. We'd really strongly prefer the snark stay at a minimum. And no, smilie faces don't prevent you from seeming snarky. If you can't play nice in this thread, please play in other threads for a while. Thank you.

How does Dungeon determine which adventures/encounters will be published in each issue?

We commission the adventures in the Adventure Path, assigning them to authors we've worked with before. For the majority of the remaining adventures, we use freelancers who submit their adventures to the magazine. We get about 60 or so submissions for adventures a month, of which we choose the best two. We look for many different things in an adventure, including (but not limited to) how interesting the adventure's story is, how many cliches the adventure avoids, what kind of monsters and villians are featured, the author's rules knowledge, the quality of the map turnovers, the respect the author gives D&D traditions, new monsters/magic/spells that are fun and creative, the quality of the writing, and the overall creativity of the adventure. In order to get published, the adventure has to excell at most (if not all) of these criteria for all three of us who work on editing the magazine.

Pity it'll only be the nouns... Mystara is still my #1 world. I'll just have to scrounge the cash for that new DCC box set instead. :D

I'd say wait and see... it'll be more than just nouns.
