Effects of Undead Turning & Rebuking

Li Shenron

Legend
If someone tries to attack a turned undead (which is fleeing), does it get any defence, i.e. can they make AoO?

Furthermore, what is exactly a "cowering" undead (when rebuked or turned but unabel to flee)? PHB says attackers get a +2 bonus, but nothing else. I guess they can't act if they cowering, but it is not specified in the PHB.

Clerics time

Hello Li :)

I always play a cleric :) Whenever turning comes up and the undead are cowering, we don't give them turns. Usually they dont' last long anyway, but that way, just incase the PCs have something else to pay attention too (like what summoned the undead) it takes them out of commission for a bit.

Fleeing undead :( run fast. I think they have a perty good movement rate, that is how we did it anyway. We would be able to shoot at them with magic or bows, but we couldn't get into melee with them, they are in a panic'd run.

That is just kinda what we do :) hope it helps

LufiaLillyStorm's right. Once turned, Undead flee as fast as they can. If they can't flee, they cower, which denies them any attacks, including AoOs, for the duration of the turning.
