Feat Size

Johnny the human Fighter/Sorcerer wields a greatsword with much delight. He even takes the feat: Weapon Focus (greatsword).

After much adventuring, Johnny becomes a Dragon Disciple and moves up one size category to Large. Arrayed in front of him are 3 weapons.

* A medium greatsword (aka longsword)
* A greatsword
* A huge greatsword

For which weapon(s) does the feat Weapon Focus (greatsword) apply?

NOTE: I realize the use of a "medium greatsword" is quite cheesy. One of the points I'm trying to figure out is: Why you can take Weapon Focus (greatsword) and have it apply to a large and huge sized weapon, but not take Weapon Focus (longsword) and have it apply to a medium and large sized weapons? (large longsword == greatsword; also very cheesy)

You're right it's cheesy.

you're arguing semantics here. You know what a greatsword is and what the feat is supposed to be applied to. Feels like you're looking for a way to circumvent the rules.

It applies to the weapon which is a greatsword relative to your current size.
Thanks Storm Raven.

Hill giants are a good example of this. They have the feat Weapon Focus (greatclub) and apply it to a huge greatclub.

The strange result of this is that a hill giant can't apply the feat Weapon Focus (greatclub) while using a normal greatclub (size large).

That begs the question, what weapon focus feat would a hill giant have to take to gain the benefit for a normal greatclub? Weapon Focus (club)?

I know that in 3.5 they are making Exotic Weapon Proficiency be like.

Exotic Weapon Proficiency(One handed Blade)

This would work with all one handed Bladed weapons.

Perhaps they will make Weapon Focus that way too.

*nod* what Storm Raven said - it would apply to the huge size greatsword. What's important is the weapon's size relative to the wielder, not the weapon's size relative to the universe.
