Still at least it's damn funny to imagine the looks of those mooks when they see what they've just gotten into :D
You can say that again -- a few of them are already scared out of their minds courtesy of Sun Jin's Brain Shredder!

And I just thought of something...didn't Edge choose Fox's Retreat as his fu schtick instead of Friend of Darkness, which would be a natural for situations like this? He may well be as "in the dark" as the rest of us!

Running combats looks like it could get real messy, real quick if we don't devise a system. If you're posting too many shots ahead, you also lose the ability to react to what someone else did...or end up having to rewrite a post. Here's what I would suggest as a starting point for a combat system:

Everyone post only your initiative when it's time to do so. At that time, you can announce your general intentions, but no specific actions until it's clear what the initiative order is. You may also post defensive reactions (such as active dodging attacks from certain bad guys), particularly if you have a lower initiative.

Once the initiative order is posted, the highest initiatives go first. When you post an intended action, clearly state right next to it at what shot count it is happening. You may post anything within the next three shots of the sequence, but don't get further ahead than that.

Any other player whose initiative comes up within 3 shots of the highest roll, may also post their action. Once Corlon gets the bad guys caught up, then action may continue for another 3 shots. (In other words, you should never post an action that happens more than 3 shots after the last bad guy's posted action.)

It's not perfect, and it's still somewhat ambiguous, but hopefully it'll help keep combat from getting too far ahead of itself.

you know folks, I just thought combat is chaotic so what if things get into each others way? Bad luck. We can either live with it or devise ever more complicated ways to handle combat but in the end it will just slow us down. I could live with scenes like Tatjana pulling out her guns just to look stunned then she suddenly finds herself in a smokescreen.
We should at least spend half of our shots with each post or we will never get through combat.

It all happened so fast, I couldn't respond, sorry guys.

Well, I guess from now on I'll roll your speed and set the order, then you guys can post three shots, or if your speed is was above others (such as 15, and then some 9s) you can post six, but let's not go so far.

I've posted the actions you all put down, but stopped halfway through for reasons I've already posted.

I hope this system will clear things up, we can knock out some of the quirks as we go along.

This will make action scenes take longer, but hey.

I'd allow three shots at the least, as that's the amount of time it takes to make one regular gun or martial arts attack. Carnival of Carnage, of course, reduces this shot cost by one shot per schtick against the mooks, allowing up to three gun attacks on them.

Bwahahahahahaha!

"Dang!" he cries. "What's next? Are Superman and Godzilla gonna bust in here and start going Pulp Fiction on each other with light sabers?"
Man, Dennis is just one confused American tourist right now, isn't he? :D

But seriously, I hope that Corlon doesn't throw any more weird stuff at us during this fight -- we've already seen the departure of Tatjana, who apparently just couldn't take all that weirdness, and now it looks like Dennis is out of there too, apparently intent on giving chase to the guy with the glowing hand trying to escape. I've already had One Eye fire a .357 slug at his legs to slow him down, and I'm waiting to see what Edge, Sun Jin and Tatjana do with their shots.

It looks like the next sequence will probably turn into a wildass car chase if the bad guy does manage to get out of the restaurant. And I was planning to haul everyone into the station for questioning, including that poor mook we left still standing -- gotta find some way to get the crew together, after all!

My guess is that he will jus vanish through the portal those mooks came from. I like the idea of hauling the chars of to the station, otherwise we might just wander of.

If it turns into a wild car chase, you can be sure you'll be victims of a very located snowstrom or rainfall, giving you great difficulty to follow him, sorry guys :( , but it seems I can't help you for the next 6 hours
