The issue I've always had is when the DM blatantly ignores or changes rules and then gets snippy when it's pointed out. The DM is not God, and that's probably the worst thing to ever come from the "early days" - the idea that whatever the DM says goes, no matter if its a load of bullcrap or not. Making your own creature that does something is one thing, but if you specifically use the name of a power in the rules, it better work as it's written. There are rules for a reason.
