[FULL] Sunless Citadel 3.5

Hey Watermark12,

Sorry, I need to make a fix to my character sheet. Unfortunately, Arathar carries a spiked chain, but doesn't know how to use it :) Forgot to take the Exotic Weapon Proficiency. I am swapping Combat Reflexes out for it, and will make the correction in the Rogue's Gallery.

*creeping in quietly*: if you need to make your alternate list any longer (as if!), could you please consider my name? thanks! *skuttles back out*

Attention Ferrix

Everyone,

I'm feeling better now, and ready to get started soon. Thanks for the well wishes!

I don't mean to be too impatient, but Ferrix, I'm going to need a character sheet and inital role-playing post from you very soon, otherwise I'm going to have to offer the final slot to Vendetta. Please respond.

Hello all,

FYI I will be away this weekend and not have any regular internet access. I am going to try to find a way to access, but if not, I will not be available to post until Sunday.

In case anything exciting happens, Arathar is pretty much going to continue to guard the rear of the caravan, taking the nights that the caravan stops to strike up conversations with fellow caravan members.

Appearance: Gethin is ashamed of his appearance, his thin frame is covered in short russet brown fuzz. He attempts to pass himself off as a halfling, although his almost canine-like face covered in a golden brown fur and his large ears give him away almost instantly if seen. Thus he obscures himself in a dark brown cloak which he attempts to keep pulled about his body at all times. However, when pressed to moving swiftly, which he is unable to do on the ground, his thin membrane wings span over six feet.

Background: Gethin doesn’t know his history incredibly well, although what he does remember troubles him as he sleeps. The cages which he battered himself against, the shadows of other creatures, the cries of pain, the looming robes and penetrating look of the man who called Gethin and the others his children. Gethin, amongst others, was an experiment with the very forces of life and nature. The man, perhaps a wizard, devoted much of his attention at first to the bat-like Gethin, however, Gethin must not have performed well in whatever tests the man had in stake for him, and soon he was forgotten amongst the other cages for the more willing or easily manipulated. The man’s vile servants kept all of the beasts fed, although they often treated the creatures harshly, rattling the cages, but were too afraid to physically harm the, their torments directed at the creatures minds.

It was in this horror of a past that Gethin cultured what reserves he had. His will becoming tempered and perceptive, he attempted to communicate with many of the creatures in the cages but few were receptive to his high-pitched screeches. In time, as the wizard forgot about Gethin and moved on to other subjects, his meals became less frequent, and he felt more isolated. Soon, his cage was moved to a corner near and window and for the first time he could see tall creatures with green fronds rooted into the earth, their limbs waving about. He could feel the coolness of the breezes, the smell of air and earth. All of these things he fantasized about, some days loosing himself utterly into his senses. For the first time, he felt the urge for freedom, to flex his meager wings, which were trapped within the bars of the cage, and soar.

He nurtured this longing for freedom as he had cultured his will, and he made plans to escape. Yet, despite his best planning, he could not free himself from the cage, he waited a number of years, able to watch the seasons change and to feel the brimming heat of summer and the chill of winter nights. It was only by chance that the wizard had acquired a new little beastie for his experiments that Gethin found an opportunity to escape. This little creature, a reptilian biped creature with a lithe body and whiplike tail almost the same size as him, darted it’s large black eyes about with an ferocity that belied it’s small size. Soon after the arrival of the creature, as one of the wizards’ servants was feeding and banging on the cages, the little reptile let out a cry between a bird and a dragon, the servant turned just in time to catch a stream of spittle in the face blinding it. It staggered back, crashing into cage upon cage, sending them sprawling. Gethin’s cage was knocked from it’s stand, tumbling to the ground it burst open as it struck the ground. Despite being shaken, Gethin managed to crawl from the cage, limping slowly across to look at the reptilian creature, it cocked its head at him. He cooed like the birds he had heard and it pacified the creature. Quickly doing his best to unlatch the cage, he released the creature and it padded out, sniffing at the odd bat-like thing that had freed it. The opportunity had arrived and Gethin hobbled to the doorway that the servants came in and out of, pushing on it with all of his feeble strength, it creaked open to reveal a long corridor. Beckoning to the reptilian creature, he did his best to hurry down the hall, seeking that fresh air he had so often breathed through the window. In short time the reptilian creature had discovered a small side passage which lead to the outdoors. Finally free, Gethin tried to leap into the air, flexing his wings, but fluttered feebly. Resigned to the earth until he was stronger, the two odd companions made their way into the copses of the large rooted creatures which swayed in the wind.

A few more years passed where the two survived meagerly in the woods, until they happened upon a caravan traveling through. Having never seen other life they were both curious yet deathly afraid, as those they had known were cruel and terrible creatures. They fled. Yet more caravans passed through their woods and in time they approached one, a number of small creatures with lithe bodies and merry features played instruments and sat around a hot reddish incarnation which reminded Gethin of the horrible branding irons that the wizard had. The small creatures, halflings as it were, nearly jumped from their skins at the arrival of such an odd pair. Yet, they were curious as well, and soon despite having little language, Gethin sat amongst them listening to the new sounds with his companion quizzically playing with the reddish incarnation. Gethin, who had been without a real name, acquired his name here, it meant one of dark skin. Gethin and Rhavad (the little dinosaur) began to travel with this caravan, they learned a great deal and the halflings soon came to admire Gethin’s incomparable wisdom. It was soon time though for the halflings to go home, and Gethin thanked them in the words he had learned and set out alongside Rhavad.

Ferrix: Gethin's character sheet lists his size as being medium. Should that possibly be small?

Also, can I get you to post a copy of the character sheet over at the RG thread?

Watermark, I feel the party is a bit on the weak side combat wise. I was thinking of slightly modifying Valeria, to make her a scout from CAdv, she would be a bit less social but more effective in combat.

What do you think?
