Dwarf load

Originally used by me to convey the idea of 'an incredibly heavy load that only a dwarf would carry'; in the conversion to 3.5 the term was standardized to mean 100 pounds, which is the maximum the average dwarf (10 strength) can carry and still move.

Ranger: I search for traps.
DM: Only rogues can use search for traps.
Ranger: Anyone can find a trap as long as the DC is under 20
DM: You find no traps.

Every friggen week!

And the week he wasn't there, I said the whole dialog right at the first door we encountered just so it was said for the night.

"We are going to Elf the walls."

Which means the elf of the party is forced to walk around the room a few times to look for a secret passage.

"without incident"

Player: Having gathered the info, I return to the inn without incident...

DM: You notice the town guard are trailing you.

Player: I slip into the sewer and ditch the guards, and return to the inn without incident...

DM: The guards tip off the thieves guild that's waiting for you in the sewer.

Player: I sneak past the thieves, sneak thru the side tunnels, and return to the inn without incident...

There were three more solo encounters before the poor rogue finally returned to the inn (bloody, muddy, wanted by guild and guard, equipment littered all over the city...) WITHOUT INCIDENT!

:D

'Don't Lester anything...'

...named after Lester, a pc who pulled the lever that released an ultrabadguy from a prison he'd been trapped in for billions of years. If you're interested, you can read all about him and his adventures in a couple of my story hours, Agents of Chaos and To War Against Felenga.

1) Does EVERYONE use "blah?" We do too... :)

2) n: "KWP Index": Stands for "Keep With Party Index".

We were sick of wondering what treasure to carry, and what to leave behind, so one of us got some gumption and a lethal dose of Excel. He listed every item in DnD by price divided by weight and then organized the ratios. Rings are pretty high up on the KWP Index, whereas things like rocks and quarterstaves have horrible standings.

3) v: "Hoodak": "to Hoodak" means "to do something in character that ruins the gaming experience for another player."

Hoodak was a vampire character in WoD who proceeded to blood bond everyone else in the party. Hence, "Hoodak". ;)

4) n: "Chibbit": equivalent to "Munchkin" or "Twink".

Chibbit was the name of my friend's toad familiar. Wah lah.

5) exclamation: "TAR!"

At level one, we were commissioned to bring back tar from the nearby village. We, feeling that the quest for tar was beneath our heroic stature, proceeded to mock the DM by waving our fists in the air while blaring, "TAR!"

6) phrase: "KILL THE ROUNDIES!!!!"

In Blood Bowl, the miniatures for the dwarf runners have round helmets. Whenever we broke their armor, we'd clench our fists, twitch our eyebrows, and spit out, "KILL THE ROUNDIES!"

7) phrase: "Roll a One Phase"

In Warhammer Quest, whenever the wizard checks for mana at the beginning of a turn, that's the "Roll a One Phase."

8) n: "chunt": no definition

It just sounds vulgar, doesn't it? ;)

" But their my friends" We use that to describe any bone head or stupid thing done or said.

It came from a player who is no longer with us who tended to be a little scattered. He was captured and surronded by the enemy because he was an elf they were holding off killing him. The DM was giving a lot of hints that he could bluff is way out by pretending not to be with the cavern we were traveling with. So the cavern is mentioned and out comes "but their my friends". The sound of the rest of us groaning and slapping our foreheads was heard. The DM's face went from shock to who well and all the bad guys pulled thier swords.

A "Wrench" is any item placed in a room as flavor which becomes a subject of immediate and, sometimes very extended concern, to the players. thus holding up progress of the adventure.

The only one that comes to mind right now:

"There's a forest?!?"
Most often said after rolling a '1' when the DM asks for a Spot check. If not in a forest, replace with 'cave', 'house' or wherever the party is at the moment.
