Well, perhaps it is more common for the more inexperienced gaming groups to create the feeling in-game that the players are not yet able to create for themselves. Just maybe.
There's a good way to keep the music off.
Go to your local hardware store and buy a wooden-handle axe.
Carve the words "Murderin' Axe" on the handle with a wood-burner.
Bring it to your next game, not referring to it in any way.
When someone starts to get out of line, you start tapping the handle of the axe on the ground.
