I don't use music during D&D.

I use techno-industrial during CyberPunk.

And Diamanda Galas (Masque of the Red Death and Plague Mass) during Vampire.

I had to vote other stuff because I did not see a "I don't play music while we game" category. I am very into music. I played professionally, got signed to an indy label, recorded in studio, won competitions for Music Theory etc. Another person in our gaming group is a music major. We would pay way too much time listening to the music because for the two of us there is no such thing as ambient music, unless Ambient Inc. puts out a CD, and I do not think HellHound has any plans, but one can never tell. While it surely adds to the modd and feel of most veryone else's game, it would most certainly detract from ours. Heck, I'd be drumming on the table or my legs and at least grinding my teeth to the beat...

Dragon Warrior:D. The overland music.....god, the cheese...;)
Lol! Actually, all the Dragon Warrior (actually, "Dragon Quest") soundtracks I have (DQ 1 - 7) are the "Dragon Quest Symphony" CDs - all the music of Dragon Warrior (including the cheesy overland music of DW1) done by a full orchestra - the London Philharmonic Orchestra, to be exact.

I'm not kidding.

Other.

A big mashed up mix of soundtracks etc.

For the Dalelands FR game - Dead Can Dance's less dancy foresty bits. Lots of the Princess Mononoke soundtrack. Some Gladiator soundtrack. Some Braveheart soundtrack. Very little Bram Stoker's Dracula soundtrack and a smattering of the Last Temptation of Christ soundtrack ( gawdblessim that Peter Gabriel). A fair deal of flute and harp pieces rounds out the playlist to over 3 hours long. Loops maybe three times during the game.

Still assembling a playlist for my Underdark FR game. Have a feeling the players will kill me if I throw any Wall of Voodoo into the mix. The body of it is now traditional Japanese flute and tai-ko drums ( stuff from the genius troupe Kodo).
Sounds mildly ethnic but the strained tones of the flute and deep drums help convey the adventure's overall feel.

When one of the other folks in our group is running Shadowrun we get the good mix of stuff. Skinny Puppy etc.
