Serith waits outside, and when the merchant comes out, grabs the ring from him. He mutters an incantation and awaits the results.
(Serith casts detect magic).
If ring glows: "Fine. You ride with me. And you'll take us to this pyramid... assuming you live through the night" Serith grins.
If ring doesn't glow: Serith tosses the ring onto the road, "Charlatan, leave us now before I turn you in myself."

Sensing trouble, the traveller slowly unties his valketta, casting a severe glance toward Grey as he holds the weapon to his side. It is not immediately clear who he intends to use it on, if anyone.

As sson as Garl, the merchant steps outside a detect magic is cast on the ring that he's still holding, it radiates magic, and not just a little bit. You also see strong magic radiating form under his clothes and from in his boots.
I'm sure I'll last the night, now let's ride. Let me just get my horse. You do have horses, right?

"I need no horse."
He will not be quick to raise further objections against this new companion -- although he certainly does not trust him. He reties his weapon behind him, ready to return to it should the need arise.

"I do not have a horse... but. im light? Are we sure we are prepared for desert travel? the horses would need a LOT of water it seems. And not to mention the water for you guys."
He shrugs and looks around, "I guess i -could- buy a horse, but then id have to take care of it and stuff, and i'd hate to drag one into the bloody desert. Maybe i could find a camel or something." He looks over to his monk friend, and shrugs.
