Continuing the D&D executive producer's interview tour, gaming influencer Ginny Di asks a WotC's Kyle Brink about the OGL and other things.
I think that's going to be a thing that Wizards is going to discover. The more complex their VTT offering is, the harder it is to homebrew, the smaller the audience they're going to have for it. The more expensive it is for 3pp to sell things on it, the smaller the audience they're going to have for it....immediately followed by him saying hombrewing in 3d is complicated and time consuming and will require purchased assets. So it will supported in a "you can certainly try" sort of way. Which is fine, people can just not use the vtt, but the contrast was funny to me
I mean, "yes we're still looking at adding 3.x (and possibly 4e even though Brink specifically only mentioned 3.x)" is new. Before this thread devolves into a 4e (and its virtues/sins) thread, is there anything new coming out of the interview?![]()
Rules Cyclopedia SRD or bust!Hey, if we're asking for ponies, could someone at Wizards take a editing pass at the Core Rules rtfs and make a 2e SRD. Please and thank you.![]()
Honestly Rules Compendium/Cyclopedia type books tend to make for good SRD fodder since they're typically all or mostly all rules and no/very little setting. For instance, the 4e Rules Compendium has about a dozen pages on the default Points of Light setting and the rest is fluff-free.Rules Cyclopedia SRD or bust!
Both things can be true, and probably are....immediately followed by him saying hombrewing in 3d is complicated and time consuming and will require purchased assets. So it will supported in a "you can certainly try" sort of way. Which is fine, people can just not use the vtt, but the contrast was funny to me
there were some surprising twists in this story so far, but that would be the most surprising yet…Literally just waiting to hear "we're looking at opening up 4th edition somehow" or similar.
if they did that I would do a happy dance... just cause i know SOMEONE would make a searchable list of powersBut 5.1 is actually an SRD. For 4e they'd either need to create an SRD or say "Hey we're opening up the PHB, the MM, and these pages of the DMG as open content under a CC-BY license. Have fun folks!"
I mean, I'd love for them to do that, but expecting it is another matter entirely...
Already exists. Just can't share it here bc piracy.if they did that I would do a happy dance... just cause i know SOMEONE would make a searchable list of powers
