Sorry, but I was a day late in posting my characters. My work this week is going into longer hours than I expected. I hope my dwarf survives, as the others look like they may die quite fast.

Hey, you never know unless you try right?

I don't really care much about the money. If you want us to pay for stuff I am happy with that. Not even sure what 30 copper pieces buys. The other advantage is that this way you can just provide a bunch of stuff for the characters to choose from, which might save some time.

fireinthedust - Umm, all of them. And then I will chose one to take as a PC.

Xim is probably the least "adventurer" of the group. But you can bet she already has a plan to profit from her investment. I would like to see her survive to return home and build her business empire! The Urchin is smart enough to be a wizard, perhaps he catches the bug from Alaric. Narančasta has probably slipped into the lead roll at this point. Siva is pretty capable, but suffers from being a bit fragile. But we will see.

GlassEye - On a related note, if there are only three players, it may be worth considering running two PC's each. I am running two PC's in Isida's game, and it is good fun. You get to play them off against each other. And pretty easy. Given these characters are fairly simple, even more so in DCC. Just a thought.

Sorry for the short disappearance. Triple whammy of a boat load of new work, wife out of town for business, and sick kid. I'll get a starting post up soon.

Question: starting equipment is what we rolled, but once we start the game we could use anything we get our hands on, right?

So would it be fair game to roll Personality at the villagers for donations? Like, old armor, cloaks, rope, torches, oil, ten foot pole, etc.?

Or do you want us to start in the dungeon with whatever's rolled, rather than this scene as the start point?

Hey, we have all been there. I hope your child is feeling better.

I have already tried to steal the march on this one in the IC thread. But happy if GlassEye wants the zeros to leave town/rock up at the keep with just what we rolled and can afford to buy.

I understand the reason for the 10 foot pole, but seriously. Have ever tried carrying around 10 foot lengths of anything? Its much easier to use the dwarf to find traps (one way or another) :)

Dogmatron: no worries. As doghead has said we've all been there at one time or another. Hope your family gets well soon.

Multiple (leveled) characters: We'll see how it plays out. With four players, not necessary but if we end up dropping down to three then I'd likely say yes.

Gear: You'll have to make do with what you have and can afford to buy. I could allow you to persuade the villagers (though not with a Personality check) or otherwise give you gear but that kinda goes against the spirit of the DCC funnel, don't you think?

Hey. With three with 1 hp, and one with 3 hp, I'll take any advantage I can wrangle :)

Can we get a price list on the type of items mentioned so far?

Sooo ... Chekhov's taxman. I thought it was hilarious. Foreshadowing a taxman before a party of adventurers heads off on a ... well, adventure is such a rat-bastard-DM thing to do. And I'm not even the DM. Even more amusing is the fact that, given the aforementioned grand total of 6 hp, I might end up playing that taxman. He's not a bad character actually (he has a 10ft pole!), although the rest of the group is a bit mixed. (It does however include, you guessed it, a Halfling Dyer.) I suppose it is one way to get rich from adventuring (without actually having to go adventuring).

OK, so my sense of humour might be a little weird.

Perhaps I should foreshadow my party of elves instead.

Taxman: hah!

Yeah, I don't have the book yet, for equipment prices, either. I'll be getting it and a selection of adventures on March 1st, however! :D

btw: Jack Vance is a really overly-flowery writer. Dialogue is terrible, use of words like "avaunt!" and "circumspectitude" is fine and well for narration or poetic prologue, but in dialogue? seriously? what guy is going to say to some "damsel" that he's just met "hast thou fortitude to alight hence from this perplexitude?" It's like this doctor I had who used really big words to sound important, but ended up sounding pompous.
