Halflings - What's the Attraction?

The scimitar dance feat has wonderful effects on your average damage per round, assuming you have a good dex. If you max your dex, I believe no single feat increases your average damage per round more than scimitar dance(or it's hammer equivilent). Halfling melees will have to build a bit differently than other races, but I really don't think they are much worse off.

No updates changed: it still doesn't mention staffs. Checked FAQ as well. Have they been updated since the last time they appeared?

If halflings can't Medium wield staffs and quarterstaffs by RAW, you could always give them a Small staff or quarterstaff.

Is there such a thing? I couldn't find one. What page are they on?

Thanks, -- N

small

WotC did away with small items Everyone, small and medium, use same items.

Which is why I have ben saying staff really should have small keyword like the shortbow does (the only other small item)

That would enable halfling to fully utilize their staff as a melee weapon, plus it would give them access to all those two handed weapon powers and Power Attack feat that they cannot use to the full at present.

because, as far as I know, versatile one-handed weapons used two handed do not count, cos it says explicitly: two handed weapons.

As it stands, staff is one of the worst two handed weapons. But if it was the only one halflings could use, it would get a lot more popularity.

What makes you say that, Hamish? Being versatile means you're using it 2-handed. It's the 2-handed style, rather than that a weapon must be used 2-handed. I find it hard to believe that the designers would make it impossible for a halfling to be a 2-handed fighter, and difficult to be a fighter at all.

I agree, though, that the quarterstaff might should have the small keyword.

two handed

I'd like it checked, but I think I have seen it ruled that way. I'd prefer it not to be, that was the impression I got, that versatile gave +1 damage wielded two handed and that was it.
