no problem. i'm sure if you proposed that as a game, no one would say no (besides, it's close enough to that era, mark could still play a smart - a$$ed, tough as nails detective :D )

phase world - the rifts setting?

i completely understand. one of the players in my former group has realllly wanted to do a non-fantasy game for some time (which is why i was considering trying to convert Star Frontiers to d20 Modern...)

Have you seen Blood and Space - the sci fi toolkit RPGnow put together? It seems pretty cool, and should adapt pretty well to various genres.

Ya, but that's not my expertise. And with the depression it's easy to get everyone together by them all taking jobs for the same person.

So instead of selling pencils or apples, they'll be selling forbidden knowledge? :)

Ya, the space setting when taken away from Rifts holds up pretty well. Once the high powered races are either eliminated or toned down it becomes something a kin to most space age games.

I'd recommend it. It's relatively cheap (if you can handle PDF) and it works as a good building block for space games.

I'm still contemplating a game that uses those rules paired with Four Colour to Fantasy to run a Legion of Superheroes type campaign (or to let people custom design their alien races).

A supers game would be fun, but I could never run it. However a Pulp super heroes game could be enjoyible.....:D
