My other plan is some form of over the tope wuxia sci-fi. People leaping from deck to deck as they board capitle ships, blasters blazing, and engaging in hand to hand with kung-fu wookies.

There's an event like that at Briscon that sounded interesting. I just have to hope I can sign up for it.

The trip itself was great fun. I spent some time with old friends, which was nice. Unfortunately I also found that my oldest friend may not be such a friend anymore. She and I were each others first loves, and though we have not been a couple for a very long time we have always been very close. A few months ago we sort of stopped talking, she was busy, and we were in different cities, but I always assumed that that importance we had always held for one another still stood. I just found out she in engaged. She has not told me this. I had to learn it from my friend, who happens to work with her mother.

I tried she is apparently on vacation.

I left her an email that says simply "I hear congratulations are in order"

The strangest thing, is apparently her mom, who really disliked me for a long time, now thinks I was the best boyfriend she ever had, and that I should talk her out of this.

I will do no such thing. As much as I fear for any man who dates her, if anyone can get past her massive fear of commitment, there must be something good about him. That, or he is the worst man ever.

Trying to talk her out of it would definitely be a bad thing to do. It makes me wonder why her mother would want you to. But that is mere speculation on my part and ultimately none of my business. Did you do anything special with your friends? Sightseeing or the like?
