How does Grab work?

Monkey Boy

First Post
I know Grab was meant to replace the oft maligned grapple rules. I've read it but I don't get it.

Once I grab someone, which I can do with one hand free then what?

They can't move but can attack me to their hearts content?

No pinning the charmed PC, let alone capturing a baddy, anymore?

I guess I am still thinking in 3.x terms. Grapple, along with trip, as a concept is dead and burried. Unless I am reading things wrong.

I don't have the books yet, so I have to ask, does grabbing give combat advantage to anybody else? Might be a good way for a fighter to help a nearby rogue.

Also, do any of the classes (I'm guessing Fighter and maybe Paladin) have any powers that you can use when grabbing an opponent?

Grabbing seems to only immobolize an opponent which means they can't move. That's all the condition immobolized does.

I have not seen any powers that work in conjuction with grab yet. I have only looked over the lower level powers.

From what I've seen, Monkey Boy, it looks like you're right.

Trip's still around as a fighter power, but grappling does indeed appear to be dead. Grabbing however, looks very useful for keeping the slippery characters like rogues and rangers from getting away from your brutes.

It's also not horrifically broken once you start bringing in size bonuses.

Given that I hated the 3rd ed grappling system, I think I welcome the improvement, though I do regret the loss of pinning.
