Since this has come up in a couple threads, I am curious how folks feel:

How important to you personally is the presence of D&D lore in the 2024 core rulebooks?

I make up my own lore for most things, but I do like to see other peoples ideas and will borrow fun ideas.

For Monsters I prefer to base their Lore on real world myth and tradition rather than complex DnD setting lore.
For DnD Monsters the lore is a smorgsabord, though I do tend to prefer the older stuff from 2e than later stuff.

So its I am glad its there, but I could take it or leave it

I like to have something there to help me better understand the creature. However, I do appreciate that they have made an effort to make the 2024 books relatively lore neutral so that they can reframe creatures in different ways for different settings.
Have they? it seems so far like there is a lot of lore in the books.

By lore neutral, I mean the lore that’s there is fairly generic. They’ve removed references to creatures like Ogrémoch, they’ve swapped out a picture of Lord Soth for a generic death knight, and so on. I’m guessing this MM won’t have all the little setting lore sidebars that the 2014 MM had.
