How long after June 6?

Once the books hit shelves on 6/6, how long before you will be able to run your first session of 4e? I am thinking I will need a couple of weeks to read and digest all 3 books. Stupid job and other responsibilities anyway.

I would run it on the 6th if my players lived near me.

Whenever everyone has their PC drafted and we can all be online. (ah internets you save my life)

I'm not killing my current 3.5 campaign. The question was when do you plan to play.

When the other campaign is over. We don't play multiple campaigns at once and it's not like I'd play 4e at a game day or a con.

I WILL BE ON A PLANE THAT DAY!

I have to remember to take the earliest flight so I can drop by my FLGS and pick up the books on the way home. Maybe if the flight is early enough I can even run a game.

Heh.

Run a game on the plane. Just be careful of turbulence messing up your dice rolls.

It really depends on whether or not I can find a group of people to play with. I'm looking forward to 4e, but it's gotten my hopes up about organizing/assembling a group, which is likely to be the real letdown for me. :\

Amazon says that they're shipping my books on June 10th. I elected for the free shipping so I don't know when they'll arrive. However, my wife and I have agreed that we'll need an extra PHB (in addition to hers and mine) since all of our gaming is at our house, so I'll probably buy one on the street date as well.

Our regular games will be going on hiatus for a couple of weeks just after the books come out because of a family trip back to Ohio, so I'll probably have some time to read the rules before gaming.

My brother in law will run a character creation session for our new campaigns while I'm in Ohio. If possible, I will be on the cell phone with him (or maybe a video chat) while the rest of the group is doing it.

I have to say that we're not just stopping our 3.5 campaigns before their natural ending point. Luckily for us, all of ours were approaching that point. On Fridays we've had one FR campaign come to a conclusion (after completing a conversion of the old Against the Giants series) already. Our Shackled City campaign has only 2 more adventures remaining, and my Sembia (Return of Auppensor) campaign has only three more. We may be done by June, or we may not finish until July.

Our Saturday group is still finishing up its Eberron campaign and an Age of Worms campaign (just 2 more adventures). The GM of the Savage Tide campaign will be writing an early conclusion for us (we're about 12th level now), but that's because none of us like the storyline (GM included), not because of the new edition.

ASAP after the 4e release, one of our Saturday GMs will run the new published adventure. We're going to wait until we have the PHB because we'd rather build our own characters.

According to Amazon my books will be delivered on 6/12. Plan to have the crew come over and make characters on 6/13 and run my first game 6/14. Been working on campaign world and adventure ideas for about 2 months now.

Also, I will have KoS earlier and maybe will run that in late May, but I'm thinking I'll probably cannibalize it for ideas instead of play it.

Brent, are you going to blog your game? I loved reading your Drow War blog, it helped me prepare from my Drow War campaign.
