D&D (2024) How should the Swordmage be implemented in 1DnD?

Just need to add the spells.

The you can pick from
1/3 caster (Eldritch knight, Arcane Trickster)
1/2 caster (Artificer)
2/3 caster (Warlock)
Or full caster (Bladesinger, Valor).
Or even multiclass.

That's a lot of choice for just a few pages.

I don't know how much it benefits Wizards, given that the consensus around Bladesinger seems to be "You're still primarily a caster, act like it, and only use weapon attacks if forced to."
Consensus? I don't even think it's the majority
The Swordmage is as comfortable in melee combat as the Fighter, and as close and personal as the Barbarian, but the weapon of choice is pure magic.
This is how I've seen every Bladesinger run in the game.

Besides Air Cutter, Teleport Slash, Swap Places, Elemental Strike, Elemental Burst...

What other spells do you think need to be made?

There are so many flavors a fullcaster Swordmage can do.

Include augmented Unarmed Strikes of various flavors as well as weapons.

The Swordmage feels better with a d8 hit dice.

Its tankiness comes from magical hit points, from regenerating and healing. And its AC is magical, force armor rather than plate armor, or it turns into metal rather than wears metal.

I think it feels better with d10, but then I also think it should be a half-caster, an arcane counterpart of the paladin and ranger and it should have a tougher base hit die than the artificer.

Man, I just went and looked at my swordmage (called the Arcknight) and realised it has the, now defunct, epic feat. A great idea that kind of got scrapped for 5.5 (been a while, I think they're still there and you can select them at 19th level?). I need to come up with a capstone ability or shift my 18th level ability (master of sword and spell, cast a spell of up to 5th level in place of one of your attacks) to 20th and then come up with an 18th level ability.

For the half-caster concept, I would rather a Paladin subclass swap its spell list for the Wizard spell list, similar to the way the Divine Sorcerer swaps its spell list.

Dont ruin the Swordmage class.

It needs to be a full caster.
