D&D (2024) How you going to roll... 5.24 into your game(s)?

I’m in “wait and see” mode. I’m not sure yet if I’ll fully switch to the revised rules or just cherry pick the stuff I like.

Regardless, I won’t switch in the middle of a campaign. I’ll wait till a campaign is finished and then institute any rules changes or switch fully to the 2024 revision for the next one.

That being said, I am currently allowing one player to use the playtest version of the monk. I will probably allow them to switch to using the final rules once they’re available.

I'll probably pick up the core books when they are released, depending on if my group is still playing, and what my money situation looks like. If I buy them, it will be more out of curiosity rather than enthusiasm. As we aren't playing D&D any longer if we do decide to give the revision a try, I'll just run a short couple session adventure with pre-gens I've made. I don't think I'd want to go through the trouble of doing a session zero and have players make PCs just to see if we like the new game. If we like it, then we'll start a more formal campaign come next spring most likely.

I’m running two 5e games currently. I’ll be sticking to the 2014 rules until one or both are done and then switching to my Frankensteinian Vanity 5e which is a mix of homebrewing with 2014, 2024 and A5E.

I don't know what will really happen. I have a friend who I think is keen on incorporating the fighter updates for his PC, but I'm fine with playing my half-orc barbarian/wizard with the older rules.

Not running a current 5e campaign, just some one-shots planned for the next few months. If I did start a new one, I'd be sticking with 2014 5e as the base, maybe with some house rules. If I use anything from 2024 material - which is entirely dependent on whether the new Monster Manual impresses me - it will be on a case by case basis, retrofitted to work with the old core. But honestly, I'm more interested in seeing what I can pull forward from older editions into 2014 5e at this point.

Currently running Vecna, and I figure at least the DMG will be out by the time I finish. I've got a Greyhawk campaign in mind, so I want the new Greyhawk stuff they put in it. It'll also depend on Roll20, bur I'm pretty sure they'll have the new character sheets and such added by then.

My home game has already been using the UA rules and it’s been easy enough. So we’ll swap over but any players who want to keep their current class rules can (our moon Druid will probably do so).

My school campaigns start fresh each turn and are going to be completely using the new rules. Unless there are some I don’t like.

For the campaign I'm playing in, the DM has been winding up the story so we'll be in a good spot to wrap up once the new rules come out, and start a new campaign with entirely the new rules (plus his homebrew mods). For the campaign I'm (going to be) running, I'm waiting to start until the new books come out, and will use entirely the new rules (plus my homebrew mods).

WotC can pretend all they want like the rules are backwards compatible - technically they are, but there's no way that people are going to want to keep track of two separate sets of rules, it just isn't realistic. And the new books are marginally better than the old books so they're going to be the consensus pick

My own games I'm sticking with 2014, though I've been working on my own version if I can get anyone to agree on it.

Not sure what those in my other two games are going to do, but I'm not planning to buy the books, so if they switch, they'll have to supply the books to use.
