I actually had a player bring a gun to a game once. However, the gun was unloaded, and he didn't point it at anything (he just left it in the case). He was really into hunting and shooting, so he wanted to show the DM (also into hunting and shooting) his new handgun. Still, it was weird for a player to show up with a gun.
