(IC) Against the Giants PBP Group 1

Bible grips her sword and untangles herself from Cordit's embrace.

"Step back, me sweet Cordit," she says, motioning for the ape to get behind her. "Thisk ain't no reg'lar dwarf, but a sort o' devil in diskguise, if them bards weren't fibbin'!"

She watches to see how Jack's bolt affects the dwarf and prepares to attack.

Jack's quarrel pierced the dwarf right where his heart should have been, but instead of dying, his form began to shift and grow, until he stood taller than most men. His face, as it twisted, grew orange, white and black, with sharp teeth and piercing cat-eyes. He reached up with a clawed hand that seemed to have its thumb the wrong-way-around as he pulled the quarrel out of his chest and threw it on the ground.

The Rackshasa known as Azbar looked at Jack's fury with cruel indifference and said, "I don't remember you, but I hope that I made this 'Dahlia' suffer before her end."

Eoghan picked furiously at the strings of his Bandore as he called forth a dweomer from the enchanted instrument itself. A mantle of protection woven of chords and notes, stories and ballads, knit itself around Bible. His fingers moved in complex rhythms, almost separate from the rest of him.

~<I watch over you>~, the party heard in their heads.

And then the Firbolg took a deep breath and faded away, only the echos of the music remaining.

OOC: Using the Fochlucan Bandore to cast Protection from Evil and Good on Bible.

Until the spell ends, one willing creature you touch is protected against certain types of creatures: aberrations, celestials, elementals, fey, fiends, and undead.
The protection grants several benefits. Creatures of those types have disadvantage on attack rolls against the target. The target also can't be charmed, frightened, or possessed by them. If the target is already charmed, frightened, or possessed by such a creature, the target has advantage on any new saving throw against the relevant effect.

As a bonus action he uses the Firbolg feature Hidden Step, which makes him invisible until the start of his next turn (or attack, etc.). He has three uses left after this.

He'll the move NE until he's no longer in line of sight of the Rashasa. (DY80 or 79 I think, let me know where.)

Valda had been distracted by stabbing the now dead roper a few more times, just to be sure. However, when the demon tiger thing had revealed itself, she muttered "Well, huh. That's not good." She dug out a flask from her belt and downed it, the bleeding wounds from the last fight slowing a bit. This was going to be a long day.

OOC:
Drinking a Potion of Greater Healing.
Potion of Greater Healing: 4D4+4 = [2, 4, 1, 3]+4 = 14
Now up to 24 Hit Points.

Quinn curses as the dwarven prisoner transforms into a monster. Seeing Valda's injuries he speaks and the healing starlight swirls around him. Quinn then moves so that the aura of light moves over Rune Knight. As it does healing washes into Valda closing some of their wounds.

OOC: Action: Using my last 3rd lvl slot to cast Aura of Vitality.
Move: Quinn will move to DQ78
Bonus: Aura of Vitality heal on Valda: 2d6+1d4 9

"Wha'd I tell you, Cordit," Bible nudges her companion as Azbar reveals his true form. "It's jus' like one o' them plays we saw on our voyages through the Orienk."

Feeling the protection of Eoghan's magic, she strides up to the rakshasa and says, "I don' know what you're doin' hidin' out in this cellar, Azbar, but your cover's blown, an' now me friend's gonna have his revenge on you. Le's you an' him fight!"

And with that she unleashes her sword, quickly slashing across the fiend's body twice.

"Gorshk. This one's harder than he looks," she mutters to herself as her blade is deflected by the monster's thick hide.

Jack widened his normally sleepy eyes at the fiend's words.

"I'm going to make you remember. Painfully," he growled.

Jack then dropped Darling and drew The Knife and his trusty shortsword as he advanced and attacked.

He grimaced as he failed to land either attack.

Eoghan disappeared leaving only music behind as Valda used her own potion to heal some of her roper-bites. Quinn added to the healing as he worked his way up the tunnel, climbing over the difficult mess that was the roper's dead tentacles and uneven rocks of the tunnel.

The tiger-fiend laughed as Bible and Jack failed to pierce his thick orange fur. He said, "Perhaps I remember you now... but it was not I who killed your sister, was it? It was YOU."

Jack felt the creature's cat-eyes burrow into his mind, twisting his thoughts and making his murderous rage twist toward his nearby ally, Bible.

As Jack struggled against the urge to turn on his ally, Cordit stumbled forward in her big ape-form and pounded the Rakshasa. It shut him up for the moment, but it failed to distract him from his attempt to dominate Jack.

OOC: Eoghan cast PFGE on Bible & went Invisible; Valda was healed 12 & 9 (to 33 HP); Bible & Jack missed. Rakshasa tries to Dominate Jack! Then Cordit pounds him for 19 & 26, but of course, he's immune. Hey, I finished the round! Woohoo!
GM: Dominate Person: A humanoid you can see within 60ft must make a dc18 WIS save or be Charmed by you for 1 minute (C). If you or creatures that are friendly to you are fighting them, they have advantage on the save. While they are charmed, you share a telepathic link while on the same plane of existence, through which you issue commands (such as "attack that creature" or "fetch that object") while you are conscious (no action), which they obey. If they complete the order & don't receive further direction, they defend themself. As an action, you can take total & precise control. Until the end of your next turn, they take only the actions you choose. You can also cause them to use a reaction by using your reaction. Each time they take damage, they can reroll the save.
