(IC) Against the Giants PBP Group 1

FitzTheRuke

Legend
Eoghan spoke, but his words were too late coming to stop the surprised and frightened orc from striking Jack in his shoulder. A second orc came out of the tunnel and heard Eoghan's words. He grabbed his kin and dragged him back, telling him, "Be calm! They will free us!" (Orcish)

OOC: Jack would probably win if we rolled Init, but this is more exciting. Won't happen often anyhow, with the way I do PBP Init, PCs go first 95% of the time. Here's the rare exception: O3 did 5 to Jack with a pick before O4 grappled him when Eoghan got O4 on your side.

Bible raises her axe at the orc's charge but holds back from striking, seeing that Eoghan's words have had the desired effect. She runs forward past the orcs and hurls her axe at the dwarf-tormenting orog. Drawing the other axe from her belt, she throws again, seeking to bury its blade in the orog's skull.

::Let the dwarves be!:: she shouts as her axes fly. ::You oughta have sympathy for them that's smaller than you!::

Quinn move forward to support the others. He winces as Bible shouts hoping it doesn't awaken the sleeping stone giants. He watches the others drop one orog but does not see any other threats. The druid conjures a ball of fire in his hand and prepares to throw it at any new threats that might appear.

OOC: @Blue Sorry about that, I thought I had already posted for this round. Thanks for the ping.

Move: Moving up behind the others, probably to DC82 or somewhere near there.
Action: I am readying a cantrip to attack any new enemies that appear. Produce Flame attack against Orog.: 1d20+10 14 2d8 13 here is the roll.

Legend
The group pushed forward into the narrow, worked tunnels. Jack fired his crossbow at the orog bully before Bible rushed down the tunnel, throwing axes and Valda lobbed arrows past her. The orog staggered, pin-cushioned and bloody, but raised an axe and charged at Bible. Quinn, who was working his way through the rubble into the tunnel, thought for a moment that the orog would fall, but as it rushed toward Bible, he changed his mind and sent a burst of flame into the orog's face, which caused the bully to wheeze and drop, just a moment before reaching the sailor.

Tenibor listened, trying to filter out the sounds of the battle for any sign of giants. The orcs from the side-tunnel had pulled back to get out of the way of the fray, but they had not been alone in the side-tunnel. Though it was not the threat that the elf had intended to listen for, he was able to warn Jack as another orog burst from that tunnel and swung a large axe, that grazed Jack as he rolled with the blow. The orog kept up the punishment, driving Jack on his back-footing as the two orc allies pushed their way forward to back him up, swinging their bugbear's morningstars to harry the half-ogre.

Down the tunnel, an orc, dirty enough to be a worker, came around a bend in the tunnel to see what was happening, and yet another orog appeared behind him. The orog threw a javelin at Bible, who ducked, and then turned to flee eastward.

At the rear of the fray, the dwarf Harmock chuckled softly to himself, only overheard by Tenibor, who was beside him and listening.

OOC: Jack did 8, Bible did 22, & Valda did 11 to Orog3, which left it at 1 HP, so I will say that Quinn changed his mind & finished him off. Orog4 did 16 & 8 to Jack (Uncanny Dodge, right? So 16 total.) Khalga (orc2) did 5 to Orog4.

Quinn sees the one Orog begin to flee east. Guessing that the creature was going to awaken the sleeping giants he began to pull the entangle spell stored in his ring. He completes the last words of the spell and points to a spot next to the orog. Roots snake down from the ceiling and up from the cavern floor grasping at the fleeing creature.

OOC: Action: Using the ring of spell storing to cast Entangle centered on orog 5. All within 20 ft must make a DC 18 strength save or be restrained.
Move: Staying put
Bonus: None
