(IC - D&D 3.5) Rathan's Problem Down Under

[sblock=ooc]Just so as you all know I will be Posting xp awards and such in the first post of the RG thread... unless anyone can think of any other reason to put it elsewhere...[/sblock]

As you search the bodies... carefully one would guess... you find rather mundane items on them only... some leather armor with holes in it where the white patches of skin had eaten through the leather... interesting designs on them thought from this effect... both of them had normal quality short swords and light crossbows and a total of 17 bolts left on them. There is also 100 gold on them a piece which can only be the money paid up front to take the lot of you out....

“That’s an unusual reaction to death, so I wouldn’t mind having a look at that sample later too Berrek if you don’t mind,” Eltyr remarks as he rejoins the group. “You know, I’m really surprised they managed to get in here undetected ... especially with the council present ... so we should probably get going as soon as possible to limit the chance any more of these assassination squads has a chance to act, once everyone else has been checked by Lidia that is.”

"Yeah, I was hoping you might be interested. You probably know more about magic then I do."

"Let's move out. If there is anything useful on those hobos, we can sell it as we buy our supplies. Let's be quick about it."

"If anyone has memorized detect magic and is willing to share such knowledge, I'd like to take a peek at this liquid with such divination. And soon, if this explosion in anything to go by, this liquid might loose it's properties in time or already has."

OOC: Rathan could you also make one "treasure post" or make spoiler block in first post of RG so we can have party treasure in one place (once we divide or sell it can be deleted or you can have PC by PC division)

Lidia pick up on Menhir's alarm and walks over to him. After examining his wounds she tells him "Well that sword has taken a small chunk out of you but that should heal naturally. On the other hand I have not seen anything like this splash damage before. But there again, I have not treated a lump of stone before." The later was said in a jokey tone. However knowing Menhir's inability to read humans, she continues. "By the way Menhir, the last bit was what we humans call a joke and was meant to reassure you. Stand there a minute and I'll see what I can do for you." Lidia starts to chant in druidic and then taps him on the shoulder. All of Menhir's wounds magically close.

OOC:
I am working on the assumption that Menhir has 3HP damage from a sword cut and 4HP splash damage. Let me know if this is incorrect.

Approaching the injured elemental Lidia notices that it's now a half head taller, standing nearly as high as her chest, and nearly twice as voluminous as before. Menhir is perplexed by the druidess' subtle reassurance; why would stating the obvious, that it is in fact a lump of stone, serve to reassure it? Her explanation was clearly incomplete or vague. Not wanting to dwell on such an obscure social nicety however, Menhir instead offers Lidia its own observation while she works. "It... hurts... like the star rock impact hurts."

The creature's crystal prisms pulse with a soft inner light when Lidia offers the injured elemental her healing touch. The pulsing light fades to naught as the cracks and pockmarks pitting its body are covered over by solid granite. Menhir nods its gratitude to the woman; the ancient pact of mutual aid between the druids and the land having been renewed once more.

OOC: Your assumption concerning the damage is as good as any, though I suspect that Menhir got splashed twice rather suffering a sword hit.

Hobgob2 take a swing at Menhir quickly before turning to notice his friends demise and then turns tail to flee... The hogbob finds purchance SOMEHOW on the little earthen beast as he strikes a very VERY well placed blow between the half embedded armor pieces... 1d20+2=22, 1d6+2=3

no she is right.. you took a nat 20 from a sword hit but due to being immune to crits you only took 3 damage... then a splash hit for 8 damage which was halved due to making your refl save.... so 4 there for a total of 7[/sblock]

Anton winced and recoiled in pain at the spray that erupted from the dying hobgoblin that managed to find its way through his armor. Although it wasn't life threatening, he had never felt this kind of pain before, his flesh searing and burning unlike from normal heat. He closed his eyes in silence for a moment and focuses inward, channeling his faith and love of Pelor to a crescendo that overflows in one moment. With a soft pulsing glow, the fresh burn marks on his face began to slowly mend, until they are visible no more.

He moves over to where the others have congregated and stands solidly, "If any others are in need of aid, I would be pleased to oblidge."

[sblock=ooc]Anton will spend a turn attempt to use Fast Healing 1 (for ten rounds) on himself.[/sblock]

“I should hope so, but you never know Berrek, maybe you’ve picked up something I haven’t ... as for detect magic, I won’t have another prepared until tomorrow,” Eltyr replies, crouching down to study the hobgoblins as the others are tended to.

With assistance from Eltyr... Berrek takes a long look at the substance... Pouring some out you would note that the fire has now died off the liquid after exiting the body and lying dormant for a short time... leaving the liquid a dull murky yellow-white. Both of you remember hearing studies of creatures migrating from the impact sight who were sick in one form or another and once passing on there bodies filled with a substance not much unlike the specimen you have in here.... To your knowledge you have not heard of a living specimen with this substance within it only deceased ones. You are pretty sure they named the substance plasma and note it a completely new substance never before seen on this planet.

[sblock=If a Detect Magic is Cast:]The substance has at this point a VERY faint and continuously fading aura of an unknown origin of magic.[/sblock]

"Yeah, tomorrow I'll be able to cast it again too. Let's move, sooner we're on the way, sooner the city will be safe. I wonder if someone from on high has already made contact with some dark forces. This seems too orchestrated to be only preemptive attack from forces of the starfall region."

[sblock=Additional info]Among other things Berrek tried it on his tongue (just a drop) to taste it and another drop on some copper coin to see if it retains it's acidic like properties. Also he tried to set that same drop aflame. Otherwise he is satisfied with what he learned. Once we're settled I might opt to play little bit more with it. And allow Eltyr to experiment with it as potential spell component.
