(IC - D&D 3.5) Rathan's Problem Down Under

Having healed Menhir, Lidia suddenly notices that he seems different. Thinking back she realises that he is taller and has more bulk. "Err Menhir, is it my imagination or have you suddenly grown?"

To the others she says. " I agree with Berrek. Let get some supplies and depart."

The drop on your tongue is foul tasting but other than that it no longer exudes the properties to burn or eat through material. You wound venture to guess that once out of the body for a short time it renders the plasma mundane and useless.

The drop on the coin is the same... no effect on the coin at this point as well.

When the substance is set aflame however it does burn a low blue flame a few moments (with the very small amount used about a second of burn time is about accurate) before being consumed completely.... you venture a guess that if more was used it would sustain a longer burn time....

[sblock=ooc:]I have included one unit of plasma to your IC treasure awards just so you all know...[/sblock]

In answer to Lidia's question, the elemental merely gestures towards the empty gaps left in the floor's surface behind it and then to the flagstones now embedded in the surface of its own earthen body.

Eager to get back underway, Menhir sinks back down into the floor to its waist and follows the other departing party members out of the hall.

Lidia looks at the flagstones in Menhir's chest, then at the gaps in the floor and back to Menhir. For once she is speechless. Although she opens and closes her mouth a couple of times as if to say something, no sound comes out. Finally, she smiles at him and heads for the door.

As you all gather your items needed from the trip and perhaps even pick up a few new things before setting off you note the town is rather quiet today after the assembly... you also note there is a storm off in the distance.. and with the direction you will be traveling you will meet it on the road somewhere assuredly...

You all gather after buying what needs to be bought and head out of out for the first time sense arriving here nearly 3 days ago... it seems to be about 3 hours past the noon days sun as you finally get going...

The terrain leading out from the Great Lorken Hall seems to be mostly flat grasslands and in some areas the grass is high enough to reach your waists if you're of medium stature... The wind is blowing from the coast far east of you and the days weather so far... save for the looming far off storm is rather dull and mundane....

Berrek in his scouting takes care to note any worthy shelter if that storm approaches suddenly. If it appears as if we are to be hit, he will take the party back toward closest such place.

"Menhir, I have a question. You can glide through the earth as you said you are one and the same. Could you "not-glide", but leave a hole behind you or otherwise dig into the earth? I'm thinking, if worst comes to worse and the storm catches us by surprise, we could find shelter under closest big tree or fallen log if you could carve us a shelter in the earth."

If Menhir confirms it, Berrek adds big stones and logs as potential shelters to keep in mind while scouting. Of course, houses are preferable :)

Lidia walks out of Great Lorken Hall and gives a loud whistle. A large shadow detaches itself from the hall's roof and flys towards the party. As it gets closer it can be seen to be a large hawk with barred gray plumage, which swoops in and lands on Lidia's raised shield arm. Lidia strokes Shadow and feeds him a titbit of meat. "This is my companion Shadow. I have asked him to scout ahead for us. Also, with a bit of luck, he will find us some supper." Taking a queue from Lidia, Shadow takes off and flies in front of the party untill it can just be seen as a dot in the distance.

Once Shadow has left to scout and the party is well away from the hall, so that she has a clear view of the sky, Lidia turns her attention to the weather. Ignoring the obvious storm, she carefully checks the sky to determine what the weather will be like for the next two days.

Lidia will position herself somewhere near the middle of the party and plod down the road, all the time searching for safe places to shelter from the incoming storm.

Just as Eltyr is about to reach out and try to touch the bird, it takes off and disappears into the distance.

“That’s a nice bird you’ve got there Lidia, I hope to call a companion of my own soon, though I haven’t managed to get the final part of ritual quite right yet for what I’m hoping to summon,” he grin.

"Menhir, I have a question. You can glide through the earth as you said you are one and the same. Could you "not-glide", but leave a hole behind you or otherwise dig into the earth?
Menhir watches Berrek for a moment after he's finished speaking, as if expecting something more. Then, by way of an answer, the earth elemental plunges both forelimbs effortlessly into the ground at their feet. With a mighty tearing of turf, Menhir heaves up large fistfuls of dirt which it then holds out towards Berrek as if for inspection. The elemental waits patiently for comments.
