D&D 5E (IC) Fitz's Folly

Dellrak looked at the dead beast with a critical eye. He looked over the holes his arrows had poked into the creature and then at the bow in his hand. "Not sure what be goin on here. An I not so sure why it felt so correct and guid." the dwarf says moving away from the body.

Putting his axe in the canoe he kept the bow on his back. "I be thinking ye needed evil magic ta raise a creature from the grave?" he asks of everyone aloud. "Who or what could raise this beast? And are they still about?"

OOC: Right before the short rest/lunch I will have Dellrak use Primeval Awareness, and spend a 1st level slot.

Qawasha answered Drui, "There are many such as this throughout the Jungles of Chult. It is true that something must be causing it, but it is not anything new. Nor is there any cause nearby, I expect. If you would seek the answer with me, I would accompany you anywhere you wish to pursue this cause."

Weed beat his chest and squeaked and Qawasha nodded.

"Perhaps we could seek answers in the Heart of Ubtao. Since ancient times, many wise priests have sought answers in visions that can be obtained in this sacred place. I have heard that the petrified heart of the God of Chult can often be seen floating over the Aldani Basin, a wetlands that is the source of this river."

He gestured vaguely up the River Soshenstar, which was still out of sight, though the waters could be heard echoing over the falls.

After hiking to the top of the falls, the group sat down for a much needed break, with food and water passed around. Dellrak sat on a large rock and remained quiet for quite some time. When his eyes snapped open he found himself slightly rattled.

OOC: Let's see... Primeval Awareness lets you know if there are a bunch of monster types within a mile. The answer is yes. Dellrak detects the presence of Fey, Undead, and Aberrations. Number unknown, but all within a mile.

Rodrigo spends a hit dice

hit dice on top of the falls: 1D10+2 = [2]+2 = 4

Rodrigo, once on top of the waterfall, drank some water and started doing stretching exercise so he wouldn't get knots after the fight. His father had shown him that for such injuries it was important to keep flexible and nibble. He was troubled though - how many of these undead monsters were they? This fight had gone well, but they couldn't hack their way all the way to the camp...

He looked at the druid "An intriguing proposal Qawasha, but first we must complete our mission... although if it's on the way... ultimately, our true goal is to stop this death curse."

"And master Dellrack - that was some impressive shooting. Was it a trick of the light, or was there some blue... energy... around your arrows? You can trust Brother Chrysagon and I to hold the line, and Harb to ward our flank - I'll be perfectly content if you and Miss Imogen moe down our foes."

Kneeld in front the dead creature, Chrysagon stayed contemplative. It was close. Kelemvor protection saved his life again.
"Fear ends where faith begins..." whispered Chrysagon.

Then joining his companions, "Nice style, Rodrigo. I should learn this parry trick. Is anyone hurt?"

After Qawasha speech, Chrysagon searched his memory, trying to remember his Father old stories about this land.

OOC: Religion; History:
1D20+2 = [1]+2 = 3
1D20+2 = [20]+2 = 22
Yeah, religion was not his favorite class.

Coming out of his meditations Dellrak joined the others. "Here," he said, handing a couple berries to Rodrigo. "These be helpful ta take the sting from ye bruises."

He listened as the warrior talked about the arrows he shot, and shook his head. "Can't really explain it. Be like their is this power inside o'me bones and it just be wantin' to lash out at dat cursed thing." He nods and smiles at the offer. "Aye, just don't be lettin' me axe hear ye talk that way. Besides these lands do be full of foul things. I felt them, and they is close."

OOC: Give Rodrigo 3 goodberries. They go away at the end of the day so please eat up. And tell everyone about the undead, fey, and aberrations in the area.
Anyone else down a couple HP??

Chrysagon recalls his father's story of Mezro, the old capital of Chult. It was an ancient city, famed for having spent five hundred years hidden from the world by magical means. It was ruled by seven Chosen of Ubtao known as the Barae, who were said to have been granted immortality.

One of the Barae was Ras Nsi, sworn protector of the city who over time betrayed his oaths and was banished. History says that rather than trying to redeem himself, he raised an undead army and attempted to conquer Mezro. The would-be tyrant was defeated in battle and was banished once more.

Mezro was destroyed by the Spellplague and is now in ruins, somewhere in the jungles to the east. Undead such as this may be the remnants of Ras Nsi's army. Or perhaps whatever magic created his army is still creating creatures such as these.
