D&D 5E (IC) Scourge of Daggerford

Tommi taunted the Orog and struck him in the throat with a stone. While the half-ogre shook his head and made choking noises, he dashed out of the tent, Oh-Six flying behind him through the flap. Recovering, the half-ogre brushed the heavy tent-flap aside and came out into the light. The big orc was shocked by what he saw. He had only been in the tent for a few moments, chasing one annoying human youth. But now, many orcs lay dead on the ground and others seemed to be routing.

Tommi had slipped through the smoke of a campfire and ducked behind an archer, who was in the act of pulling another arrow, and was unprepared for the boy appearing from around the tent. Oh-Six flew over the tent, and stayed near Tommi on the opposite side.

Forgetting about Tommi, the orog moved on, rushing southward to join the shaman in the boar pen.

OOC: Tommi did 17 to Orog1, who dashed away afterward. We'll have to deal with Tommi and the Archer next round, as I already rolled for it. One of the weird things about non-initiative. Sorry about that. I'll finish this round as soon as @Prickly Pear and @jmucchiello post for the north.

Healing stabilised him somewhat and Vairar was ready for more pain. While the spell was surprisingly effective, there is still this weapon to consider.

"Let's get them before I fall! I'll exchange the weapons on the way there! The elves remain only as long as I'm conscious and right now I feel like another good thump will be my last! Thank you, Lunn, for standing up for me, I won't forget it."

Concentration: 1D20+2 = [18]+2 = 20

Escella had an orc right up her face but it looked like it barely could stand. Escella could probably finish it off without problems. Instead, Lionel studied the oncoming orc while moving towards it and thought that he saw a weak spot in its defence. He ducked and then stabbed the orc just under the leading arm into the chest.

Move: U34 to X35 and Orc2
Bonus Action: Insightful Fighting check: 1D20+7 = [9]+7 = 16 against the orc's Charisma Deception check, which the orc may even pass this time. If so, subtract the sneak attack damage (7).
Action: Short sword attack and damage, incl sneak attack damage: 1D20+7 = [8]+7 = 15
1D6+4+3D6 = [4]+4+[1, 4, 2] = 15
Reaction: Uncanny Dodge, if attacked.

Lionel was right about Escella: She drew her rapier and killed the orc, while he faced off against the one rushing toward them. He took the orc's measure, but it came on more furiously than he expected, and he found himself ducking a swinging axe. Still, he caught the orc under the arm, just not quite as finally as he had hoped. The orc stood menacingly over him.

The boar rider finished negotiating the spikes that surrounded the camp, and rode northward. As it began to pass Lionel and Escella (who took cover behind a tree), it loaded a heavy crossbow and fired at Lionel. From the bouncing back of the galloping battle-pig, the shot went wide and low, harmlessly into the underbrush.

OOC: Escella finished Orc1; Lionel did 8 to Orc2; Beastrider missed Lionel.

Tommi has dropped his sling, and the Orog he had been fighting seems not to have given chase. Somehow, Gutter has found his way into his hand, and, to Tommi's ears, the blade tugs itself towards the chest of the archer.

Oh-Six dives past the creature's eyes, as Gutter drives itself into the archer, causing him to collapse and fall at Tommi's feet. Had he made a choice there? Tommi was not sure, but the orc was dead.

The sound of a boar on the far side of the palisade catches Tommi's attention, and his instinct to help kicks in. He runs towards the spikes he had leapt over so gracefully earlier, but his attempt to repeat the feat is far from graceful, and he finds himself stopped and stuck.

OOC: Attack (with advantage from Oh-six): 1d20+6=19 for 4d6+3=16 magical slashing damage (whew! kills him, I think).

Move: North, 30', but caught in spikes (at U52?) and movement becomes zero. Athletics check vs DC 18. 1d20+6=12. Fail. Damage = 1d6=2.

Tommi's at 17/39 HP.

Lionel also expected that the orc rider would attack him or Escella but, no, the orc seemed to continue north. Why? And then it dawned on Lionel — the orc was getting reinforcements. This must be stopped! he thought and left his orc behind, risking another swing. Lionel ran towards the oncoming orc rider, struggling to see an opening in its defences. Nevertheless, he ran and jumped up on the back of the dire boar while striking the rider.
Next, it was just a matter of holding on to the orc rider and not fall off!
Later, Lionel would think how reckless and stupid his actions had been and that he would always have been too scared to even think along these lines. However, in the midst of battle, all these thoughts were gone and only action took place.

Move: to AD35
Reaction: Uncanny Dodge, if attack of opportunity hits.
Bonus Action: Insightful Fighting check: 1D20+7 = [6]+7 = 13 against the orc's Charisma Deception check, which the orc most likely will pass this time. If so, subtract the sneak attack damage (12).
Action: Short sword attack and damage, incl sneak attack damage: 1D20+7 = [7]+7 = 14
1D6+4+3D6 = [2]+4+[5, 2, 5] = 18
If required, Jump and attack check (acrobatic): 1D20+7 = [14]+7 = 21. Jump is usually associated with athletic checks but Lionel is trying to perform a stunt, which usually is acrobatics check. If this is considered athletics (+0) then subtract 7 from the check.

In the north, Escella and Lionel understood that the Boar Rider was likely heading for the castle. The entire plan of attacking the orc camp was in jeopardy. Escella fired her blast at the rider, winging him, and Lionel made a desperate move, taking a thump from his orcish opponent as he dashed away, leaped onto the boar's back, and stabbed the rider.

The rider held the boar's back-hair with one hand and a crossbow in the other. He twisted to face his attacker and beat at Lionel, using the crossbow as a club. As he did so, the boar headed for a large murky marsh - its favorite wallowing hole. As the big pig splashed into the water, the orc pulled its fur, getting it under control, and he held on as it bucked, threatening to throw Lionel into the muck.

The other orc, free to do whatever it liked, charged at Escella and ferociously cut her down with his axe.

OOC: Escella does 7 to BoarRider but takes 15(!) from Orc2 (dropping her? Oh no!); Lionel takes 12 (6) from Orc2's OppAttack, then does 18 to BoarRider, who clubs him for 5. The Boar tries to buck Lionel off (Rider stays on) - Lionel must make a dc16 acrobatics check or fall prone in the muddy pond.
