[IC] The Odd Job

Fred finally composes his self dons some thick leather gloves the kind a blacksmith may wear and opens the gate. He says nothing.

The few meters from the gate house is a verdant garden coming into bloom colours and smells of every description broken only by the large Gothic manor. With a oversized double wooden door inlaid with silver studs.

Ben had seen the house from afar, but had never really seen it this close up. There seemed to be a theme though, "Is it just me, or is this place overly decked out in silver? Why would anyone go to those lengths? Is it a show of wealth or is he afraid of lycanthropes? If not, I would say he is just begging to be robbed."

Ben suddenly realized he had been saying his train of thought aloud and became immediately silent, flushing red that he had basically allowed his thoughts to be overheard. Seriously though, all they needed to do was grab a few of the silver studs from the door and be on their way, and they could have all the quicksilver they would need.

Hrgach shrugged and followed the others up toward the manor house, leaning against the gate as they negotiated with the gateman about seeing the lord. Hrgach noted the silver-tipped fencing surrounding the manor with curiosity. This lord certainly seemed to throw money away. He also eyed the dire wolf warily. A strange choice for a pet, though not for hobgoblins. The guard seemed nervous under their questioning, but lets them through the gate.

They follow up through a verdant garden to the front of the manor, and Hrgach notes the silver studding on the front door.

“No, you’re right, kid,” Hrgach replied to Ben. “Way too much silver. Let’s grab what we need and get out of here.”

The studs in the door look like they would come free with the correct application of force and are around 5cm squares looking fairly thick, more a defensive measure than a decoration. All in all there a,possibly 100studs but given the doors 10ft height the top 30 or so would take some effort to reach. The fencing could possibly be cut down with not to much effort, silver isn't know for its robustness.

“So how many of these things do you need?” Hrgach asked Balin as he pulled out his dagger. He figured he could pry a few of them loose. “I have a bit sword. Just ask the female.” He grinned at Ana.

Asha looks at the thick gloves. That seems a strange precaution for the man to do before touching the gate. She smiled at Fred and thanked him and followed the others inside. She files away this thought and watches as the others begin to pull silver studs from the door. She stands back to give them room to work knowing she would be no use in prying the silver from the door. As she waits she looks around the courtyard. After her cursory glance she turns to Balin.

"What was in that scroll you presented to Fred? It seemed to elicit some surprise. Not to mention his aggitation to my request afterwards."
