D&D 5E (IC) Vault of the Dracolich (Dispensables)

Grunting with pain and generally unaware of what is transporting above him, Bob grunts and attempts to extricate himself from the unfortunate shaft sticking through his abdomen. The head bashing would likely soon commence and he had no interest in missing out.

Surprised, Sesto sees Bob disappear down. He hear the grunts and looks down on Bob, who seems to have taken the fall surprisingly well. However, there's also spikes at the bottom of the pit. A trap, Sesto realises and quickly looks up to discover several dark silhouettes against the dim light of the cavern beyond.
"Troglodytes", Sesto whispers quietly to Bob and the others. "No sudden movement, they may not attack immediately."
Without hesitation, Sesto quietly calls for Lathander's blessing.

OOC: Sesto casts bless on Bob, Devan and himself — hopefully before the fight starts. Else, he will cast it on his initiative.
Initiative Trog cave: 1D20+1 = [4]+1 = 5 (Crap!!!)

Pyrus eases forward and looks for the closest Troglodyte.

*Hello,* he says to one telepathically, sure that the touch of his mind will be translated accordingly. *We are friends. We mean no harm to you or yours.*

OOC: They can communicate back this way.

Confused that Pyrus has spoken in his mind, the Troglodite is agitated. The others sense his agitation and raise their javelins prepared to throw (this action allows you to notice a few more of them - a total of ten.) The first one hisses some things in strange Draconic, it's breath a terrible stench.

*Why you here, we tell you GO, you leave us alone!*
the psychic meaning of his gibberish words clear to Pyrus, **You leave. Leave man-in-pit. He dead already! Eaten. Nothing you or we can do. Should not have come here.*

Pyrus glances down at Bobranthus, beginning his climb out of the shadows at the bottom of the pit. Pyrus can see, in shades of red, the corner of the pit, as it slides around in circles, revealing a terribly large serpent, sliding toward Bob.

GM: Yes, there is a giant snake that beat Bob's perception. I'm going to rule that Pyrus warns him in time to avoid a surprise round. The snake is on initiative 10. Anyone who beats that can act, but you have a good chance of freaking out the Trogs if you do anything aggressive. Aside from Bob. I think they'd expect him to defend himself.

Sesto is keeping calm and makes no threatening move with with his mace. He just holds it limp at his side. Still, Sesto is readying himself to cast a spell as soon as the first javelin is flying through the air.

OOC: According to the rules, Sesto can't ready a spell while concentrating on Bless. Readying a spell requires concentration too.
Sesto will not drop the concentration on Bless, but it sounds good as a story...
.

Reacting to the warning Bob finishes extricating himself from the spear and rolls into a crouch facing the serpent. He takes a single deep slow breath. Then seeing his opportunity he draws his weapons and springs into the attack. With his warhammer, he attempts to daze the beast and maybe even line it up for a decapitating axe strike on the follow up.

Affected by: None | Conditions: None[/sblock] Puzzled by the troglodyte's eerie hissing and the awkward detente between the two groups, Devan reined in his urge to start acting unilaterally. Something was going on, simmering just beneath the surface of the tense situation. He wasn't sure what it was, but the enemy warriors' nervousness was apparent enough. One wrong move, he thought worriedly.

Devan quietly calmed his breathing, deciding to let the impasse play out. But he was ready to blast the closest troglodyte if any hostilities managed to erupt. It was a good thing that the rocky corridor at his back provided a natural choke point in case he and his companions needed to retreat.

[sblock="OOC"]Action: Readying an eldritch blast, targeting the closest trog if it or any of its fellow trogs start to attack.[/sblock][/td]

*We are powerful warriors!* Pyrus said mentally, standing up straighter and focusing his mind on the fear of those in front of him. He lit a fire in his hand, using his innate Genasi blood to do so. *We are sent from the gods. You will give us leave through your territory!*

OOC: I'm good at intimidation, and not much else when it comes to talking. Play to your strengths and all that. And since I'm the only one who can talk to them...

Bonus Action: Change focus to Mantle of Fear: Grants advantage on Intimidation Checks.

Action: Ready Action: Throw the flame from Produce Flame at nearest one if they attack. If I can't do that and Intimidate, then just Intimidate.

Intimidate roll: [roll0] or [roll1]

Woops. Looks like a fight's about to start!

Round Zero Trogoldyte Guardpost

Wide-eyed in terror at the human on fire, the Trogs react badly. They throw their javelins.

*Betrayal! You here for murder! Die!* Pyrus feels them saying before a rain of javelins descends on him and on Sesto.

In the pit, the giant snake attempts to bite Bobranthus, who bashes it with an axe.

GM: Readied Actions happen. Trogs throw Javelins, Devan EBs. Not Sesto, he thinks he's ready, but he's busy concentrating.

Also, Bob and the Snake have a round of fighting while Pyrus talks. So Bob can do a turn and Devan can Fire EB.
Everyone else wait until I announce round one.
