Location The Waterfall, 1 hour, 35 minutes to Nightfall

After following the trail that Corrah showed you for about ten minutes, you rise to the top of a grand vista: the river splits in to at least five branches, all of which tumble over a high cliff. With the red glow of the setting sun just beginning at your back, you skip across rocks, ford smaller streams, and work your way across the wet expanse. All the while you can see a vast forest stretching out to the south and east, hundreds of feet below.

Wet and tired, you take the time for a meal and to shake as much water as you can out of your boots. Watching the horizon to the west deepen in red, and then arrive on the blue-grey of dusk, Sesto turns his gaze to the north-east and up, where tge shadows deepen in the black rocky crags. We will have to hurry if we are to find the cave before dark, estimates Sesto.

GM: You take that short rest here. Bob should lead the way for the next segment, into the crags. Give me that survival check,

Location: Blackpeak Crags, 20 minutes before Dark

Bobranthus leads the group up a series of animal trails over dark, crumbly rock dotted with only the slightest of shrubs. The paths become increasingly steep and rocky, and the waning light casts long shadows in the strange black rock face. Cracks, fissures, and spires loom inward, downward, and upward respec, as you pick your way around the crags in the growing darkness looking for a cave that leads more than a few feet inward.

After a few false-starts, you begin to worry that it will be at all possible to find the true entrance before the last of the light leaves you.

GM: Give me some perception checks with disadvantage (if you don't have darkvision). Pyrus should also give me an Investigation check. As you spread out (within sight of each other), to check various nooks and crannies.

Sesto strain his eyes in the growing darkness, trying desperately to find the entrance to the cave. He certainly doesn't want to light a torch or use his magical light... that would just alert the waiting troglodytes. Still, it is hard climbing around these rocks in this dim light.
"Let's see if Lathander's guidance will help", Sesto thinks as he calls for some guidance.

OOC: Perception check with disadvantage and guidance: 2D20.LOW(1)+1D4+4 = [16, 7]+[2]+4 = 13
Passive Perception is normally 14 but, with disadvantage, it is 9, right?

Pyrus, appearing bored, looks around to see what he can find, rolling his eyes at the ineptitude of his 'companions'. He never thought he'd miss his oafish brother's company.

OOC: Perception: [roll0]
Investigation: [roll1]

Location: Blackpeak Crags, 10 minutes before Nightfall

In the growing gloom, Sesto nearly steps off the ledge of a thirty-foot crevice. Only a moment before, it appeared as if it were a solid rock, though he was certain nothing had moved.

Pyrus concludes that the entrance must be at the bottom of the crevice, and he leads the way down to where the crevice begins as a crack in the cliff-side.

Judging by the smell, this must be the place.

GM: I would like a marching order, everyone's passive perceptions (and darkvision or nay), and a description of what you want to do about light - there won't be any within a few yards of the crack.

OOC: Pyrus needs no light, wants no light and ain't never gonna have no light. Just kidding, but he is currently focusing on Mastery of Light and Dark, and can see even though magical darkness at the moment.

He can go first right now, but he's not a front liner, nor is he stealthy. He's a caster, and meant to be in the back.

Passive Perception is a 12.

OOC: Unless there is someone with better sneaking/perception abilities, Bob will gladly take point. That said he'll need light to function and will likely light a torch unless someone offers a better idea.
OOC:

Squirrels are evil!
