Sesto can't see in the dark and needs light to be able to fight effectively. He can cast Light as a cantrip (bright light in a 20 foot radius and dim light for an additional 20 feet). If he cast Light on a small stone, he can then trow it into the cave entrance to light things up in there. He is reasonable strong to be able to throw the stone 80 feet with reasonable precision and 160 feet without precision, I reckon. DM, your thoughts?
Either of Bob or I can go first, then Devan and Pyrus last (to keep an eye on our backs).

Sesto recovers his balance and is glad that he didn't fall down the crevice. As Pyrus takes the lead down the crevice, Sesto follows closely as not to loose his footing. Foul smell emanates from the crack at the bottom of the crevice. "That smell is horrible!", Sesto whispers to the others. "Maybe we should get some light so we can see easier? I could light this stone up and toss into the crack.", Sesto says as he picks up a little rock from the ground, "I want to have a good look what's just inside this crack before I enter. I don't want to be ambushed." "Pyrus, you maybe want to have a look first?" "If it is all clear then we can enter. Bob, you maybe should go first and I follow."
Sesto looks at the stone he is holding in his hand, mumbles a little and gives the stone to Bob. "Wait, Bob. Take this stone so that you can see better when you enter. You can cover it up when you don't want to be seen."
OOC:
If Pyrus can't see any danger then Sesto casts Light on the stone and gives it to Bob. If Bob wants both hands free for fighting then it's maybe better to cast Light on Bob's warhammer. These cave dwelling creatures can probably see in the dark anyway.
Maybe, but Bob does occasionally like to try to sneak up on stuff. If he can get the jump on something that's already in a lot area he may leave the stone with Sesto or cover it up until gets into position.
Bob looks at the little stone stunned slightly by the sudden bloom of magical light. "Magic light stone? I like" Once down the ravine and with light in-hand, Bob steps forth leading the way for the group. He takes his time, creeping through the darkness in the thin hope of catching anything malicious by surprise. As he moves, he keeps an eye out for other light sources or movement ahead.

They had gone unnoticed, so far, in their trek up to this point and he really wanted to keep it that way. Ready for any trouble, the armored Inquisitor hefted his round shield and swiveled his alert gaze about. But the only thing he'd noticed lately was the ubiquitous stench emanating from the cave; it smelled worse than Bobranthus's feet.[/td]

Location: Trog Cave Entrance, 5 minutes after Nightfall
As the group travels down the twisting rocky corridor, the stench only worsens. A dim glow ahead causes Bob to wrap the light stone in a cloth and quietly creep a little way ahead. Coming down to a large area, flattened by crushed gravel, Bob spies the source of the dim light - the cave opens into a large cavern, with a softly glowing white lichen hanging down in long tendrils. He briefly takes cover in the shadow of a bend in the cave and motions for the others to move to that position while he slips to the next bit of rock-cover to get a better look.
As Bob sneaks across the flat gravel, his feet only make the barest of crunching noise. In the wider cavern, he can see three large huts made of rotting wood and a brownish-orange mud, adorned with the skulls of various animals (including some humanoids) and surrounded in defensive spikes. Bob sees no movement; hears no sound.
As he moves toward the next position where he can observe the cavern from cover, the gravel suddenly shifts beneath his feet. A large lizard-skin tarp slides free of a twenty-foot drop into a pit with spears at the bottom, the gravel that disguised it pours in making a loud clattering noise.
GM:
Bob's gotta make a DC12 Dex Save or fall in for _: 2D6+1D10 = [1, 2]+[5] = 8 damage from the fall and the spears, respectively. If he makes it, you can chose to have him either roll backward before falling in, or leap to the other side, catching the ledge with his elbows. (It's 15 feet across).
As his foot sinks into the hole Bobranthus grunts and throws himself backwards, rolling to a stop a few feet away, he freezes in place, hoping the denizens of this foul smelling place were hard of hearing.
For a brief moment, Bob is sure he avoided falling in to the pit. And then the ledge gives way and he tumbles to the bottom.
OOC:
Guidance only works once per casting, and not on saving throws.
Assuming that the stealth-jig is up, the group moves toward Bob to see if they can help. This is when first Pyrus, and then the others, realise that it was already up, as sudden movement reveals that by the edges of the pit, and around each hut, are several troglodite warriors, blending in perfectly with their surroundings, their skin mottled and subtly colour-shifting, as well as caked in the dark grey colour of the cave walls, or the brownish-orange of the huts; well-camouflaged. Their exact number is hard to determine.
They move to be ready to throw javelins, and they eye you suspiciously, hissing quietly.
GM:
I should warn: It looks like if anyone makes any sudden moves, they will be littered with javelins, and we will roll initiative. What do you want to do?
