I said 11th, I want that ability to go and disintegrate some jerk who desperately needs it.

You do know that disintegrate is pretty weak now, right? At 11th level you get 22d6 damage...an average of 77 points of damage if you hit, and if the target doesn't save for half damage. At level 11 you're fighting things like 11-headed hydras with 118 hit points. Even things like dire bears, which you fought 5 levels ago, have 105 hit points.

You're better off with chain lightning (less damage but no need to roll to hit, plus multiple targets), circle of death, and flesh to stone (save or die...no need to worry about hit points!).

Twelfth. I've made good headway into my PrC (if any), have enough levels to do some fun multiclass combinations, and I have a nice selection of feats. Being just "over the hill" means that I'm powerful enough to start having influence on the movers and shakers of society without being so grossly overpowerful that people start to wonder why I don't just take over.

I said 12th, which is about as high as I like to go. At 12, you get a feat and attribute point, can be far enough into a prestige class to have some interesting abilities, have access to 6th level spells (heal) and have a few 5th level spells to throw around, and at the same time you can still get your butt kicked by a lot of stuff.

I voted 12th for similar reasons. Lots of cool abilities, 6th level spells and it's not too complicated yet.

Cheers

I voted first. Just to state that fact that if the story is fun, the plot line good, and the dm a good storyteller, it doesn't matter what level you are. The game is still gonna be fun.

Exactly.

I voted 20th.

What, is it time for another Survivor poll? "PC Level Survivor!"

I said 12th, because of the quadruple whammy of ability point, feat, saving throws, and usually something cool for your class. Also, because high-level magic (e.g. holy word) starts to stupidify the game, and turn everything into a balancing act for the DM. 12th is where your characters revel in their power, yet the DM is still solidly in charge.

Also, without resurrection, death effects are actually death effects. :]

7th. Fighter types get their 2nd attack, but non fighter types do not, having to rely more on spells or tumbling into position to get their sneak attacks.

Seventh

Spellcasters have a good selection of spells both in and out of combat, fighters have their second atttak, and everyone can get a small piece of most prestige classes. Lots of good stuff without too much power.
