In a period of abstinence...

... from playing, like this one that's lasting for too many months now, I like to browse through the sheets of my old PG (Excel), or read certain PbEM mail campaigns, or even just read the description of a particular talent or magic item I owned, or that I was going to acquire. So, without any practical purpose, just to bask a little taste of the 'in memory of those dream adventures.

I'm the only person with this kind?

Bye, MadLuke.

What? Do we daydream about our game characters when we've been away from the game too long?

Heck, I've been known to muse about what might be happening even when I am playing regularly.

Consider checking out the Gamers seeking Gamers section. Maybe you'll find a game.

A classic case of hypodungeonia...

Every substitute (like those mentioned above - including yours) can keep you alive, just like "true blood" does.

Unfortunately, the only TRUE blood is playing.

I do this with characters of games that have been abandoned completely.
Or even with characters that never even made it in any game.

So it goes without saying for characters that are between session.

Some characters I played in past games I still have the sheets from, simply cause they were too epic to throw away, and I dont just mean level 21+.

Like Dorro the level 5 Dwarf Barbarian.
With the spell-like ability to cast Animate Dead 1/day.
With immunity to death effects and Regeneration 4/Acid&Fire, Regeneration 4/Cold&Electricity and Fast Healing 4.

I never did figure out what damage was lethal on him.

When I am on a longer hiatus from D&D, I like to think of Kat.
Kat was an Arcane Archer, Wizard, Planeshifter.
My DM allowed me to make a Wish to give me a library that had everything ever written in any time frame, past, present, or future.

After my DM realised his folly, allowing his player to have every book, every scrap of paper, every magic Manual of Ability Score Enhancement, the Book of Truenames, all the various artifact Codexes, etcetera - he came up with dozens of adventures to try to strip me of that power.

By out-guiling him over many adventures, and maintaining my demiplanar stronghold, he finally decided it was too much, and Ao granted me divine ranks. He made me a Lesser Goddess of Knowledge and Secrets.

I like to think of what Kat is up to now and then. Maybe she spends all her time in her library on a plane where there is no passage of time. Maybe she goes in search of new knowledge that has only been passed down by word of mouth.
