Invasion of Mori - IC [3.5][CE/NE][planar]

Silhouette clears her throat.

"Teleporting directly there is too easy to anticipate, and is likely to trigger defenses," she says. "We will teleport to a nearby location, and from there assess their defenses."

She looks over the horde of kaorti with a raised brow. ""I can bring two others with me. Or Snargle. I'm afraid it's unlikely we'll be able to field much of this army...at least not until we have more advanced transportation capability."

"So. All that remains is to determine the tactically best place to appear."

Something unpleasant enters Kaelvorr's tone,"Only two others, you say? I will remember that."

In a more neutral tone, it continues, "Anyone else? Regardless, in terms of specific arrival location, a half-mile out should place us beyond whatever wards may be in place. Perhaps Roillard has seen a relatively sheltered location at about that distance ..."

Roillard happily points out two such places, eager to show off his knowledge and be of use.

"If I might venture a suggestion," he adds, "I understand that there is no limit to your, ah, number of teleportations. As such, though it may be tedious, it should in theory be possible to transport an unlimited number of allies given time. Of course, there is some small chance that if a considerable amount of time is spent transporting allies, you will be discovered and lose the element of surprise.

"If this is correct, then it is a matter of determining what number of allies is optimal."

The tone of Kaelvorr's reply is measured but uncompromising, "You will find that my rank and file are of some utility. But, a slow overland trek is no way to confront this ... walking worm you speak of. Who among us is capable of teleporting themselves to the location and who can transport others? I presume everyone wishes to bring as much force to bear against our enemy as can be mustered immediately, yes?"

Drax answers, "I can bring up to four othrs with me, but can not telport indefinetly."

"Blast it. At the rate we are going now, I could run there before you all finish talking." Rose is visibly agitated by the continuing talk, though he, of course, knows that the tactical planning is necessary.

"Hmm," muses Roillard off-handedly, "It may be necessary to establish some sort of teleportation network once our forces are numerically greater. Dretches aren't of any use unless they can get to the front lines . . . "

He scribbles something down on a spare bit of parchment, then looks up.

"Will there be anything else?"

[sblock=Morithiel]I take it Kaelvorr's attempt to possess and mind probe Roillard was unsuccesful? Whether or not it succeeds, K. will prepare to go. That is, unless it learns of some compelling reason not to.

After attempting to possess Roillard, Kaelvorr will hop over to his cohort Tellairnys to give it instructions. K. will tell T. to cast Item Alteration on K's Bracers of Charisma to infuse them with a luck rather than enhancement bonus. After the party leaves, T. is to have the remaining kaorti familiarize themselves with the cave and claim a defensible portion, preferably near the gate, to encyst off. They are authorized to use intimidation to get their way but avoid any physical confrontation with the demonlord's cult.[/sblock]

A crowned and cloaked kaorti with an enormous cranium appears amongst its emaciated brethren beside the only other one wearing a cloak. As soon as it becomes visible the other reaches for its materializing wrists, casting a spell. The macro-cephalic fiend then removes a helm from a bag and hands it to an undistinguished kaorti, before once again disappearing.

The kaorti that just received the helm walks over to the party with a small group of its kind. "We are ready."

"I await your successful return, lords and ladies."

Roillard bows smoothly, glances at the kaorti, and wanders off to give orders to the cultists.
