Invasion of Mori - IC [3.5][CE/NE][planar]

"Though to properly plan, it would be of help to know what our assets are. What are you new to Mori capable of?"

Drax offers, "well I am a bit of a swordsman, but more of an arcanist overall. I can grant us mass invisibility. Oh, and cast attack spells very rapidly, some of which are for all practicle purposes, entirely unavoidable by our foes and deal a fair bit of destruction (smile). But, without a better idea of what it did tactically, l won't waste time suggesting each little thing in the vague hope that one such crumb should prove useful."

As to your plan it seems workable knowing what I do, "A quick teleport... if we are are lucky... Then pummel it from a distance if it is so fearsome in melee. I might add that what I do not hear, is how we are going to prevent it from fleeing, as it presumably did in this case? Can anyone do so? Or do we have the means to put it down in an instant? (pondering look) Not knowing how tough it is, it may well take more than an a few seconds for me to do so."

Without another word, the unnaturally thin humanoid retreats back into the gate. A few moments later it returns, followed by another nearly identical figure. More stream through, moving sinuously despite the weird material encasing them, until a dozen stand before the gate.

One speaks, "I am Shull'tor of the Kaorti. We are reinforcements ... for the invasion. You are?"

Having gone unnoticed for several long moments, and finding himself faced with information-starved outsiders, Roillard appears to have recovered his usual veneer of confidence. He deftly explains the layout of his maps, including where the kobolds formerly concentrated their forces, and where the information is most and least accurate.

Finally, he warns you of the possibility of magical traps laid against teleportation.

"It may be best to teleport part of the way there and complete the final portion of the journey on foot," the mortal concludes.

Rose derisively comments, "I'm sure glad you don't think we're complete morons. Of course they'd protect against teleportation." However, but the end of the second phrase, the tieflings less confident tone suggests that, in fact, the idea hadn't occurred to him. Realizing that he'd betrayed his ignorance by, as usual, speaking when he should have remained silent, Rose curses under his breath as he gathers up his things.

When Roillard begins his explanation, one of the kaorti slinks back through the gate. Once again , a few moments later a new stream of the creatures issue forth from the gate. This time the flood of kaorti seems endless, not stopping until a total of 92 of the strange fiends fill the chamber.

From the crowd one of the creatures speaks, its voice booming with authority, "You will pardon the scouting party. Derwydden might have had an entirely different reception in mind."

[sblock=OOC]Once Roillard is done explaining the situation, Kaelvorr will attempt to possess him (DC30 assuming he's evil, DC28 otherwise). If successful it will try to dig through his memories to see if he's lying or holding anything back. No save for surface memories but he gets a DC28 save vs the deeper probe.[/sblock]

Although he claims to be able to see the future and on occasion has, right now, he knows nothing about what is to come, and it disturbs him. Perhaps he hasn't been thinking straightly and the distraction is what it preventing him from seeing the future.

He should have also thought about the teleportation traps which may have been set up, but that hadn't crossed his mind until the idea had been mentioned.

Vedak watches as a small army of newcomers comes pouring through the gates. "I have a feeling that stealth may be out of the question now," he says, though his tone gives no indication that he cares to be stealthy. "Can you point out the location we wish to go to," he asks Roillard, "So we can leave?"

"Indeed, I too am ready" Kelteror then takes a good look at the small hoard that came across the portal: "Maybe we should leave the fodder here. I doudt most of them will make it back."

The tone of Kaelvorr's reply is measured but uncompromising, "You will find that my rank and file are of some utility. But, a slow overland trek is no way to confront this ... walking worm you speak of. Who among us is capable of teleporting themselves to the location and who can transport others? I presume everyone wishes to bring as much force to bear against our enemy as can be mustered immediately, yes?"
