Just wanting to double-check that the Crest of Curses isn't some established item, right? I don't see it in the SRD and I didn't think I've heard of one before. (at work, books not readily available)

Whew, gone for a bit and now I'm lined up against either Rune or mythago. Scary.

Good entry, Whippit Guud, I liked it!

Nifft, I do feel sorry for you if you're trying to verify those stat blocks are solid. Random testing, I assume.

I hope that some of the people in another thread who were saying "stat blocks are the easiest part of adventure design" would give this contest a shot... :D

But they are the easiest... oh, wait, that's right, I just use stuff straight out of the book so I don't have to worry about it ;).

Having watched, I don't think I would do well in this tournament. Favor text, sure, but stat 'em? Heck no.

Acutally, I'm the exact opposite. Stat blocks I can do fairly well, it's the flavor text I have problems with.

Oh, and I was honored to be the first losing entry... does wonders for the self-esteem :)

could you write some definitions for some of the trickier ingredients, personally I wasn't really sure what a unicorn tabbard was, and it would just make sure everyone has a full idea of what to use.

Nope, no definitions... some ingredients are meant to be vague, yet flavorful.

Also, I personally like seeing the statblocks at the end, but just have a reference to them in the story is enough for me.

Either way works for me. However the writer wants to present it, so long as there's not a lot of ambiguity.

Question, can you write these in the first person?

As if it were a PC's journal or something? I dunno -- I want a story that a DM can mold to her campaign, not a story that someone would read for literary merit -- though literary merit will never subtract points!

Finally, do you need any more alternates?

Too late! But we'll have either this contest, or one similar to it, again.

PS: Wippit Guud: appologies!

That's part of the reason for this contest: to have fully statted-out NPCs for use by DMs. Especially lazy DMs who hate stat-blocks! ;)
