Thanks Nifft, Congrats to Drunken Master!
Quick exposition:
* I was going for an Indian-subcontinent feel. Mountains at the north, jungles and elephants at the bottom. I really should have done more work on this. Perhaps just naming a couple elves in the later sections with Hindi names would have sparked the recognition without the "imagine a land like India" brute force.
* As such I envisioned the elves sniping from the tops of the elephants. Grinthal isn't a sniping sort, so he needed to be able to rush and pound the elephants and their riders.
I knew I should have included a hooks section:
a) Note the oath in the first section about his revenge lasting until the princess is wed. There is a political/social hook. There's great roleplaying potential (in my mind) for the princess who had this perceived dishonor placed on her. Does she become the victim, or become the chief architect of peace with the elves, perhaps even marrying an elf?
b) If the dwarves and elves want peace, the someone will need to track down Grinthal and bring him back.
c) Yes, he is LN drifting to LE. "Saving" him would be another plot hook, perhaps from others of his family.
d) Opponents of the Jade Wyrm might run into him. By recent change, the Yuan-Ti are no longer in the SRD. The contest requirements were to use only SRD elements. Thus I alluded to them but did not mention them by the verboten name.
e) The obvious (and perhaps most boring) plot hook would be for the elven kingdom to get some adventures to go bring down this damnable dwarf.
In any case, best of luck all, and I'll be eager to see how it all turns out!
