[Iron] IronNPC -- RAY SILVER WINS!

To be brutally honest, I'l like to wait until Friday evening. I have massive amounts of homework that must be done tonight (Wed), and I'm going to be out of town on Thursday evening (and during the day I'm in class). My best times for a truly well-done entry will be Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. Is that ok for Druken Master and Nifft? :)

Thanks Nifft, Congrats to Drunken Master!

Quick exposition:
* I was going for an Indian-subcontinent feel. Mountains at the north, jungles and elephants at the bottom. I really should have done more work on this. Perhaps just naming a couple elves in the later sections with Hindi names would have sparked the recognition without the "imagine a land like India" brute force.
* As such I envisioned the elves sniping from the tops of the elephants. Grinthal isn't a sniping sort, so he needed to be able to rush and pound the elephants and their riders.

I knew I should have included a hooks section:
a) Note the oath in the first section about his revenge lasting until the princess is wed. There is a political/social hook. There's great roleplaying potential (in my mind) for the princess who had this perceived dishonor placed on her. Does she become the victim, or become the chief architect of peace with the elves, perhaps even marrying an elf?
b) If the dwarves and elves want peace, the someone will need to track down Grinthal and bring him back.
c) Yes, he is LN drifting to LE. "Saving" him would be another plot hook, perhaps from others of his family.
d) Opponents of the Jade Wyrm might run into him. By recent change, the Yuan-Ti are no longer in the SRD. The contest requirements were to use only SRD elements. Thus I alluded to them but did not mention them by the verboten name.
e) The obvious (and perhaps most boring) plot hook would be for the elven kingdom to get some adventures to go bring down this damnable dwarf.

In any case, best of luck all, and I'll be eager to see how it all turns out!

Drunken Master & Ray Silver: Friday is fine for me.

Greybar: I can see Indian elves -- especially in the more jungley areas. Still, somehow elephant rider elves seem less subtle than I picture elves being. Now, if the elves were putting on a Bollywood-style musical, I'm with you.

LOL
Can you see elves *not* putting on a Bollywood musical? Poncing around, lounging on pet tigers, swirling in silks. It would fit beautifully with a stereotypical dwarven view of the fey/chaotic/not-nearly-serious-enough elves.

Now that I think about it, Elves using elephants as mobile stages for their musicals makes the most sense.

I can see many elves, each Charming a hundred humans & halflings to be their "extras", taking turns staring in a musical in front of a giant mirror...

PS: Iron-Elven-Bollywood-Musical must be the next contest! :p

friday sounds good. i'm actually kinda relieved - between being in two back-to-back rounds of this tournament and planning for my own gaming session this past saturday, it seems like i've done nothing but work on NPCs for a week straight! a break for a couple days will be nice :)

so, until friday, then.
best of luck to you, Ray Silver.
this should be a good 'un.

Greybar wanders up with a folding chair. He sets it up, then reaches beneath it with both hands. One comes up with a large soda, the other with a box of popcorn. He plucks some binos from around his neck and peers down into Kitchen Stadium... I mean NPC Stadium...
