Iron Man 3 - Spoilers

Joker

First Post
I saw it this morning and...I don't know what to say.

It was boring. The two people a couple rows in front of me fell asleep.

Normally I don't mind changes from the source material but the things they did to the Mandarin are just silly.

Other than that there is so much poorly timed comic relief in the movie it's more like you're watching a comedy with a little (and I stress little) bit of action relief.

I'd save your money. Go see Oblivion again.

Ouch.. I thought Oblivion was pretty mediocre, with a silly premise and suffered from being totally build around Tom Cruise's character. Can't say I liked the first two Iron Man, though I think Downey has done a good job as Tony Stark.

This was far better than Oblivion. I think the final action set piece was too overblown, but the plot twist managed to fool me (I'd avoided spoilers like the plague). There was a LOT more Stark and much less Iron Man in this one.

Oh, there's an after-credits sequence, as always.

Huh. I thought that Oblivion, while having it's moments, suffered badly from a lot of, well, physics fail, as well as a rather disregard for the underlying pathos of the story. I kindof enjoyed it, but mostly because there has been rather too little science fiction to watch lately, not because it was great. I'm hoping that at least one or two of the slew of new movies (and there do seem to be more than usual this year) turn out well.

Thx!

I actively turn off my brain when watching these types of movies so plot holes and physics no-no's I can accept.

As an action popcorn flick, I thought Oblivion did a considerably better job than Iron Man 3. It was sleek and exciting and the drones were brutally awesome.

I specially agree about the final action set piece, it essentially devalued iron man in a confusing mess from what I could see. The plot twist fooled me - although I'd rather have seen some fidelity to the original concept

Really liked it myself, seeing Tony Stark come to terms with what he is without the suit, what he values, etc. Thought it was certainly better than the 2nd film plot wise, although I agree the set piece at the end there was a little too much going on, yet in another way not enough (
You didn't really get to see why the suits were any different from each other except in a few obvious cases
).

I thought the movie was excellent, including the twist, but that they should have replaced most of the end fight with just
Pepper kicking ass
. :D

I liked it very much. I'm also pleased that it followed Dark Knight Rises in being made in such a way as to conclude the story. While ideally I'd love for many, many awesome Iron Man movies with Downey, Jr., or many, many Batman movies with Christian Bale, in real life these kinds of movies kind of shamble along, getting progressively worse until someone pulls the plug. See: Superman III, Superman IV, Batman Forever, Batman & Robin, Spider-Man 3.

Also, I thought there was a very good in-movie reason that
the other armors aren't as effective in the final battle. Aside from most of them being run by Jarvis rather than a human, there's the fact that in the six months since Avengers, Stark's built 36 new suits. He's just churning them out because of his insomnia, not bothering to test them or put a lot of thought into them.
