D&D 5E Ironfang Invasion (IC)

A blush appears on Flint's face, which he tries to conceal by turning his face towards the others.

"Thanks. I was cursed with magic, which has brought death and humiliation to my people," the dwarf says softly. "I cannot return home."

After a moment to compose himself, Flint looks the elf in the eyes. "Considering the scale of the attack and that none have warned the town of the approaching army, I suspect most nearby towns are likely destroyed, too. We could find our way to the capital, but that is quite a distance from here."

OOC: Can't seem to find where Phaendar is, and how far away from other places, so this is just improvising. If I am mistaken, please let me know.

Corsa ever-so-slightly raises an eyebrow when Loosh mentions his ship, but she's easily distracted when he moves on to Vin. She looks back in the direction of the elf and smiles a little. "Long enough to make bad decisions over him, apparently."

She turns back to Loosh. "Speaking of which, I should probably go get my camp sorted. Enjoy the rum." Before leaving, she raises her own bottle in respect. "To the Red-Tailed Swallow," she says, and takes a drink before meandering off.

As she walks away, she tries to remember if she ever knew the ship. It sounded vaguely familiar, but then, there'd been a lot of ships...

After a moment sitting quietly with Lal, reflecting on the attack and the struggles that are sure to come, Harb stands, sighs, and turns to walk away.

"I'll go talk with the others, find out what the plan is."

Harb goes through the camp, searching for Aubrin.

On his way he sees the Dwarf that blew up the bridge. "Flint is it? Thank you. You did good back there. "

When he finds Aubrin he wasts no time. "We should get together a group of us to work out how we go on from here, I will help gather them but first I have some questions. You know this area well yes? Do you recognize this band of Goblins or that giant black tower that appeared out of nowhere?"

Aubrin smiles wearily when Harb approaches her, “Yes, I agree need to get a council together to decide what we need to do to keep these people safe.”

Aubrin stands up slowly, “Harb is it? Well Harb I’ve spent most of my life in this area so yes I would say I know it well, there are a few Chernasardo Rangers that probably know it better, but they aren’t the easiest to find. The goblins are part of the Ironfang Legion and they have been known to join some Molthuni attacks but I’ve never seen them in this large of number, or alone for that matter. Generally they will raid, we retreat to the woods and go and rebuild once they are gone.”

Aubrin shook her head softly, “That black tower is something new though, I’ve never seen anything like it before, and we have never been surprised by an attack, I mean besides these woods, which would be hell to move an army through you can see an attack coming from miles away.”

Loosh raises the rum and smiles at Corsa's toast and then listens to Aubrin's conversation.

"I guess they found a way to transport a whole tower full of them, all at once. Hopefully, it used a lot of resources and they won't be able to do it again. Do you know anyone who might know about that sort of thing? A Sage, or wizard?"

Aubrin looked over at Loosh and shook her head, “I don’t know of any wizard with that amount of power, and generally the Hobgoblins don’t look that highly on magic, it would be out of character for them to work with a wizard who could do that.”

Shrugging her shoulders Aubrin continued, “But there has to be some way they got that tower into the center of the town, I just can’t think of what it would be.”

"Oh, I didn't mean a wizard would sell out his own people to hobgoblins, no, I meant we look for a wizard or sage that might have an idea how it could be done." Loosh shrugs, indicating he has no knowledge of such things.

Aubrin shook her head softly again, “I’m sorry Loosh, but I don’t know of anyone who would have knowledge about such things. There maybe someone among the Rangers that might have more information, but until we find somewhere safe to ride out this invasion I don’t think we have the resources to search them out.”

“The Molthune and the Ironfang Legion will raid and pillage, but they always move on, and once they do, and these people are safe, then, then will be the time to go looking for answers.”
