D&D 5E Ironfang Invasion (IC)

Loosh gets up early and sits in the rain, watching each small drop as it pools in his hands. He smiles and chuckles to himself, as if someone said something amusing. Only the most insightful observer would realise that he is praying.

On overhearing Harb's comment he looks up, water running down his face, and says, "This storm is a blessing. It will pass, as they do, but another will follow. Do not begrudge the storm. It is on our side. You will see."

Harb Half-Elf Paladin

"I mean no offense. The storm and the sun both have their jobs to do, but only when they work together do we get a beautiful rainbow." Harb smiles respectfully to Loosh.

Loosh smiles and nods at Harb, who is now sure that no offense was ever taken. The former sailor then lifts his face to the sky and lets the light rain hit him in the face before shaking his head like a dog.

GM:
I’ll give Lal a chance to get a post in and will move things along again in the morning.

For Vin I assume his owl is flying over the immediate forest and Phaendar. If he is going to cover more ground then that well, Vin’s going to be there for a while.

The forest is quite, no indication of any of the Ironfang Legion in it. The bridge is destroyed and there a quite a few goblin’s working on creating what appears to be a rope bridge with wood slats. It appears that it will take a day or so to complete at this pace.

The Black tower is still in the middle of town, there are a few fenced in areas that have been built with enslaved townspeople 30 or so in all. There appears to be a thousand or more Hobgoblins/goblins/bugbears in the small town and they are fortifying their position.

OOC: Vin will relay the above

"I think we will need to hit the bridge to stop them being able to send troops out easily, but it looks like they are settling in." turning to Aubrin. "Now is the time to let us know if there is a smugglers route into the town? It may help us rescue the prisoners."

After hearing Vin's report Loosh will suggest, "We could hit-and-run the goblins working on the bridge and buy anyone leaving the area a better head-start. But I'd really like to rescue any townsfolk we can, if we can safely find a way back in."

When Vin finishes explaining what he'd seen, Corsa lets out something between a laugh and a scoff.

"Settling in? Settling in?

They have a bloody portable fortress! Why they even bothered to raze that speck of a town is a mystery. All that for thirty slaves. If anyone else did half as well as we did, they lost as many of their own soldiers today. What's their game here?"

Loosh agrees with Corsa, "A good raid needs to balance reward with spent resources. Er... or so I've heard. They have gained far less than they've lost. Even worse, if moving that tower is a limited resource, or a costly one. They must have a larger agenda. We need to find out what it is."

"There is something truly monstrous going on, to be sure. Alas, strategy isn't my biggest strength. I do think we need to be cautious about striking back into the town though, the sheer numbers of the enemy should give us pause."
