D&D 5E Ironfang Invasion (IC)

GM:
Rounding up all the supplies and prepping the injured to move takes a few hours and by the time you reach the valley it is well into the afternoon. The valley is surrounded by dense forest and there is a small stream that runs through it.

"Nice place. Too bad the situation isn't more ideal." Loosh admits, then moves forward to check the immediate area for signs of trouble, spreading out with other like-minded protectors.
He even pokes at bushes with his pike, to drive out potentially dangerous animals.

Corsa fills her waterskin at the stream, then stands up and looks around, her brow knit.

"So, what does one do to find animals in the forest? Look at the dirt, or something?"

She looks at the dirt. It...looks like dirt.

Her face scrunched in obvious displeasure, she draws her rapier and pokes the ground a few times, pointlessly.

Vin takes in the river and flicking his wrist he summons his owl, with a telepathic command he sends it into the sky to follow the river path as his eyes fade to white.

Riding the owls senses he keeps and eye out along the river for any signs of humanoid habitation.

Flint is pleased with the place, although he makes a point of studying the defensive possibilities critically while the others are watching.

"It'll suffice," he remarks at last before ordering people around to set sentries and create some sort of shelter.

The dwarf is pleased at how he seems to be able to guide these people. Very few dwarves amongst them, which means the need for order and teamwork needs attention, but all in all a good group of people.

He could make a place for himself amongst them.

A smile is briefly seen on his face, but Flint quickly replaces it with a stern look, urging more people to work on the duties he named earlier. The magical image of a smiling sun above the dwarf's head belies his grumpy demeanor, though.

The rain begins to fall heavily as Aubrin walks over towards where Flint and a few other people are standing, “We have plenty of water, that shouldn’t be a problem, but we only have food for two maybe three days, a few of the townsfolk here were hunters and trappers so we should be able to manage.”

Holding out her hands to catch the rain Aubrin frowns, “This may be the bigger issue, we have just a few tents not nearly enough for everyone here. We might be able to make some lean-tos, do any of you have any skill with that type of thing.”

GM:
Loosh notices nothing out of place, a few small animals run out of one of the bushes, squirrels or the like.
Corsa does notice some mighty fine dirt.
Vin your owl sees everything on this side of the river as clear, except four soaking wet hobgoblins and a bugbear that have managed to cross the river. They look like a scouting squad and everyone else on the other side of the broken bridge are still working on the rope bridge.

Vin dismisses his owl and his sight returns, "We have at least 5 scouts cross the river, four hobgoblins and a bugbear, the others are still working on the bridge."

Loosh frowns, "Can you keep an eye on them with that owl of yours? We should probably only deal with them if they pick up our trail. Otherwise, wouldn't our murdering them give away that there's someone out here?"

Vin bows with a courtly flourish, "But of course."

With a small flourish he summons the owl again, and gives it instructions to seek out the scouts and follow them. If they split he instructs it to follow those heading in our direction. "Fluffy will find them and I will ride his senses again. I guess I will go sit down over here."

Once again his senses merge with that of the arcane bird and his own darken.

OOC: FLUFFY oh my god :D

"Damn," Corsa says as she gives up on the dirt. "I'm happy to lay low, but they know we're out here. We did make a bit of an exit," she says with a grin.

OOC: Do you want a roll for making lean-tos?
