D&D 5E (2014) Ironfang Invasion (IC)

"Well, yes. They know we're out here." he says, spreading his arms to the whole forest.

"But hopefully they won't know we're here" he says, gesturing at the ground.

He smiles at Corsa and then goes off to find the children and tell them tall tales.

Lal helps as best as he can with the lean-to building and the keeping watch.

"We can't allow those scouts to report back on our position... we may have to ambush them in the near future. I have to say that I'm surprised this valley has no inhabitant - would be a great place for golden wormling or tamasic men.

Lastly... I'm confused by the behavior of these hobbed goblins. Of course a bridge is a strategic location... but do they need a bridge with that moving tower?"

Corsa looks over at Vin sitting in the rain and frowns a little.

She watches some of the others start building lean-tos, and joins them to learn how to do it. Which kind of branches to choose, how to weave them...everything about life in a forest was new to her. She felt as out-of-place here as she did on that first day at sea. And now, as then, she would learn as much as she could. Whatever it took to survive.

After a little while she feels confident enough in her ability, and returns to Vin to start building a lean-to over him. "Not that you look bad soaking wet," she says to him with a smirk, knowing his senses are miles away.

Harb Half-Elf Paladin

Harb helps Flint plan defenses, figuring that at this point that is how he can be most useful. When that is done he checks in on the wounded and helps anywhere it seems he can be of use to someone. As he helps people he asks them about themselves, their professions, their likes, trying to get them to talk and lighten their spirits while, learning about them.

When Lal is asking about the "Hobbed Goblins" and the tower he can't help but wonder who hired them, and what their plan was.

"Hopefully we can find out more about our enemy before they find us. This tower raises many troublesome questions and I know nothing of the Arcane. Aubrin, What are other locations should be be found here? Anyone in the area we could reach out to as Allies, I know you mentioned some rangers?"

GM:

No need for survival rolls on building the lean-tos. Hopefully I will get a post up tonight to move us forward a day, may have as minor personal issue that keeps me away though, if so I'll get a post up tomorrow.

The first night at the new camp passes uneventfully, the lean-tos keep everyone mostly dry as the rain gives way to a mist which clears as the sun rises.

Vin has seen the hobgoblins make some progress on their bridge but the initial test failed and it looks like it will be at least another day before the forces of the Ironfang Legion could move across the river in mass. The scouting party has worked its way north on the edge of the forest staying within the sounds of the rushing water.

Aubrin walks over to the group as, they are finishing breakfast. “Morning, thank you again for all the work you did yesterday, everything seems to be holding up nicely. I am going to have some of the townsfolk stay close to camp to pick berries and the like and I have a few people out hunting. If it wouldn’t be too much to ask I’d like it if you can hike around two miles to the southwest, there is a huge pine tree that is dead at the top, underneath grows a herb that will do wonders for some of the sick.”

GM:
Week 1, Day Two

"The hobgoblins are making some progress on the bridge but the initial test seems to have failed and it looks like it will be at least another day before the forces of the Ironfang Legion could move across the river in mass. The scouting party has worked its way north on the edge of the forest staying within the sounds of the rushing water." Vin relays.

Turning to Aubrin, "But of course, what does this herb look like?" Vin's education covered a lot, but botany was not chief amongst them.

"Right then, off to save the day," Corsa mutters dryly to herself.

She finishes her last couple bites of breakfast, dusts off her hands, and looks ready to move.

"It is a small bush like parsley almost, but with white flowers, both the flowers and the leaves have the qualities we need." Aubrin said with a smile.
