Despite the hard travelin heroes era of Green Lantern/Green Arrow, I still don't get that vibe from this trailer. The context seems different (both in era and in characters), and although we don't know a lot about it (it was a teaser after all), I don't get it tonally either.

I don't mind swearing in a show or trailer but for some reason it really stuck out like a sore thumb to me. I guess it just felt really forced.

When I was a kid, I liked Green Lantern in my Justice League comics. But back then, the character didn't seem to have much personality (none of the characters really did) in the team book. I just kinda liked his power set. Though my childhood was Jordan, I like Rayner better as a character.

There are too many Earth Lanterns though

I wasn’t expecting a serious response, but if you look at literary origins, both the Green Lanterns and the Jedi are based on EE “Doc” Smith’s Lensmen.

I see the similarity on the surface, but I don't really see it beyond that.

I do see that they could do Lensman-type stories with Jedi though.

It’s not news, George Lucas is on record saying he was influenced by Lensmen.

It’s remarkable how forgotten Doc Smith is now, given that he was such a big deal in the 60s.

Oh, I don’t know anything about Lensman. Never even heard of it. My original comment was just to get the subject back on track.

I think Lanterns looks great.

But I would also be 100% behind an animated saga running about 5 seasons culminating in the Sinestro Corps War.

If you haven't seen it, you should really see the Animated Green Lantern Series (the one with 3d animation, it's dated, but the story is phenomenal).
