Leif's 4E Adventuring in Encastulum [IC 01]

"Well thank you for hospitality, Samwell"

Firil rumbles.

"I must apologise in advance for my directness but, as you can imagine, it's been a long day. May I ask what we're doing here?"

In the Tower -- Samwell

"Ahhh, well, yes, you have every right to do so, I suppose. I find myself in something of a predicament, you see.... A house-guest of mine has helped herself to rather more items than she arrived with, and I very much wish for their return."

Glancing at the still silent companions Rydan shrugs and takes a sip of the drink then addresses the host. "Thank you for the hospitality," he says with only a slight wheeze from the potent beverage. "I'm fuzzy on some details here. If we are to assist and I must question how you selected us to help, then we will need to know who your guest was, what items you want returned and how quickly this must be accomplished and um some things too..." he sort of trails off trying to decide what other questions would be reasonable and helpful.

In The Tower -- Samwell

"As to the manner of your choosing, it was you who chose. You came here of your own volition. I was careful not to coerce you at all. But you perhaps meant how were you selected for the initial contact. That mystery will await its revelation at another time, and I pray you all to be not troubled about it for now. My guest was a traveler from a distant sphere, and the item in question is an amulet. There is no particular time schedule imposed for this task, no, I greatly desire that you should be most careful and thorough rather than that you should hurriedly or rashly do the thing and bring down a greater calamity upon yourselves and, indeed, upon us all."

"Oh I see, well that clears things up." The bemused look on Rydan's face makes it clear that he still hasn't a clue. He covers his confusion with another somewhat less hesitant sip of the drink and looks to his companions hoping to see the light of understanding in their eyes.

In The Tower -- Samwell

"Yes, quite. I suppose that I should also tell you that my 'guest' was not altogether a willing visitor here, at least not the first time. She was brought here by a conjuration charm, and evidently managed to mark the place somehow so that she could find it again when traveling on her own. I would very much like to learn how she found her way back here, if you can tell me that, also."

Rydan nods perhaps feeling more confident as the topic turns to magic, which he has at least a working knowledge of, "So this visitor of your has powers you'd like to learn more of. That seems logical. Was she more than you bargained for when you cast your conjuration charm? I mean to say was she the creature you expected or something unusual?"

In The Tower -- Samwell

"Oh, no, she was what I expected to conjure, it's just that , ordinarily, conjured creatures are not, on their own, able to find their way back to the place where they were conjured. That's a safety built-in to the nature of the conjuration. The fact that she was able to defeat that safety measure carries with it implications that could be either very limited in their scope or that could echo to the foundations of the very nature of spellcraft itself," Samwell shudders involuntarily.

Rydan takes a bigger sip of his drinks as the implications sink in. He looks a little green and queasy, as the nature of the cause, the drink or the disturbing revelations not even Rydan can say. He takes a calming breath and continues, "so she knows where to find you, but how do we find her?"
