Lost: 2/14/07

Agreed - it wasn't really time travel.

+1

I'm the opposite on this--if this episode had taken place in season 1, I might've stopped watching the show.

Let me clarify slightly.

I really like the Desmond character and I'm actually quite interested in his background (as opposed to that of the Others). However, considering where the show is at this point, I don't really think they can afford to continue these lengthy, episode-long back stories, at least not until they tie up some loose ends.

Heck, last week ended with quite the cliffhanger and we didn't see Jack, Kate, Sawyer, or any of the Others this week. I think that sucks. They need to do some damage control and hold the audience's attention by continuing and finishing some story arcs, not introduce more. That's why the show has gotten to where it is now.

So to my original point, if they pulled this in the first season (which they did), I was more inclined to give them a free pass. Right now, not so much.

Oh, another thing, did anyone else think Charlie was incredibly whiny in this episode? I found him extremely annoying and is fast becoming my least favorite survivor.

Next weeks teaser, did they say it would answer 3 questions, or just a question? I know immediately after seeing it I thought I had the answer to one of the questions, but after a nights sleep I've forgotten everything.

Any predictions, other than whatever is revealed will probably not live up to the hype?

Yeah, I thought he'd gotten over the "I am Claire's sole protector" attitude. But it seems to have returned in a whiny fashion, as you mention.

I liked the background on Desmond, but don't think it was the best time to show it. The show's been on hiatus for a few months, and I don't remember a lot of things about the other characters. Now, if I were watching it on DVD, one episode after the other, without the significant pause, then these new episodes would probably be ok. As it is now, with these "lengthy, episode-long back stories" (as GlassJaw mentions), I forget more things about the other characters.

At least this wasn't one of the Others' flashback. I don't care about the backstory of the Others.

When Desmond was saving Claire, I kept thinking some one please just punch him to shut him up. My called him a jealous whiney b@*#h

Yep, they said three mysteries would be revealed.

I'm told that a preview for next week says that "the mystery of Jack's tattoos will finally be revealed." Does anyone have that mystery high on the list of what they'd like to see explained?

Second--Cindy's fate.

#3...something about the woman who wouldn't sell Desmond the ring last episode? Maybe whether/how/what happens after Kate and Sawyer get back to the Lostaways' island?

Those are my guesses.

Charlie's acting a lot like Michael did in protecting Walt.

I wonder if maybe this is the 'illness" Rousseau warned Sayid about back in season 1. He had those crazy dreams about Claire and Aaron, and has seemed a bit off ever since.

Or maybe Desmond's the one showing signs of the illness. Hmm....

Anyhow, with the way they tried to make it seem that what Desmond sees is inevitable and that Charlie is doomed to die, I'm nearby convinced that the next "twist" will be that Charlie doesn't die.

I don't think they will answer anything on the old woman for at least a season or two. ;)

I believe the three reveals for next week are:

1. The meaning of Jack's tattoos
2. Cindy's fate
3. Why the Others took the children/what happened to the children

Later,
