Lost Eberron 4E Style: Combat over, Level up!

[sblock=ooc]The Skeletons are on top of the raised decks of the ship. They are ten feet off the main deck, and Xandren can't reach them unless you jumped partially up the stairs. If anybody has an idea to make this more clear on the map let me know. Just trying to avoid further confusion.[/sblock]

Stellan rage boils over as he swings at the goblin at hurt him. The wild swings arcs over the goblin's head, and it takes the opportunity to step back out of harm's way.

[sblock=ooc]Miss. Gob uses gob tactics(IR) to shift away. Second attack would have missed anyway.[/sblock]

Two of ugly goblins stride forward and charge the shifter, bloodlust taking over. The short blades thrusts are easily turned aside by the shifter's shield. The other pair of goblins take their time, they get into position, eaching hoping to land the killing blow.

[sblock=ooc]2 of the gobs(M) charge, missing with a 11 and a 16. The other two circle around, taking double moves to get into position[/sblock]

The goblin with the staff, raises it's weapon and calls out in it's own language at the shifter. Stellan is not simply a warrior, the primal sprits aid him and he shrugs off the effect.

[sblock]Hexer uses stinging hex on Stellan. Miss with a 12 vs will.[/sblock]

Eliza steps forward, "What do I have to do with this. I'll not go easily!" Her voice rises in volume, echoing off the sides of the ships, causing the hobgoblin to her left to clutch his ears. The woman's call, pulls Stellan to her side. "Don't let them take me," she pleads, her words giving the shifter a larger cause to fight.

[sblock=ooc]Eliza shifts back and uses Shout of Triumph. Targeting: W1, W2 and M(S16). Hits W1 for 9 damage. Misses remainder of targets. Stellan is slid back one square. Eliza uses Majestic Word on Stellan. Stellan regains 11 hp and gains 4 thp, also sliding Stellan to S18.[/sblock]

The pair of snipers emerge from the jungle. The click of their crossbows shows their intentions. One of the bolts hits the sand at the shifter's feet. The other hits Stellan in the gut.

[sblock=ooc]Archers move forward. Ones hits with a 26 for 10 damage. The other misses with an 18.[/sblock]

Not caring of the threat the shifter poses, one of the hobgoblins reaches out to grasp Eliza. Stellan's swings his axe in her defense, and it bites into the warrior's side. Thanks to the shifter's effort, Eliza escapes the creature's grasp. The other hobgoblin attempts the same manuver, but the attention of the enraged shifter, causes it bravado to falter.

[sblock=ooc]Stellan takes II to triggered by the hobgoblin's attempted grab on Eliza. Stellan hits for 13 damage and W1 Stellan and Eliza have CA against it. Grab misses Eliza by a mile 2 vs reflex. W2 attempts grab on Eliza. That attack roll is negative...[/sblock]

The pair of goblins that wounded the shifter so severely with their javelins move out further from the shifter, coming short of the soft sand of the beach. Another javelin in hand they hurl their weapons at the shifter. One weapon sails over Stellan's head. The other is deflected by his shield, the moment he took to collect himself probably saved him from a grevious wound.

[sblock=ooc]Gobs move down and throw javs. Both miss 14 and 18 vs AC. [/sblock]

Shrugging off the multiple injuries, Stellan Calls on the spirit of the hunting panther, letting its essence flow into his limbs. The growl that escapes his mouth, aimed at the two hobgoblins flanking him, sounds like a perfect imitation of a large, predatory cat. His attack, however, is less impressive.

[sblock=ooc] Regen 2

Regarding things above and below deck, if you can you change the colour of the text for things below deck that might avoid some confusion.

[sblock=OOC]Can I do an Athletics check for my move action to jump within range, then? If so, here it is:

Athletics (1d20 9=27)

Well, if it's possible, that should do the trick. : ) [/sblock]

Xandren nearly leaps up the entire stairway in his pursuit of the skeleton on the upper deck. The warforged swings his great blade at the undead as the creature fumbles with it's bow. The weapon strikes true seperating vertebrae, causing the skeleton to again fall lifeless to the deck.

[sblock=ooc]Used previous attack roll. Hit. Dead. I'll also give you the option, like I did to Redclaw to spend a healing surge to recover the 5hp you lost from the coral cuts while swimming.[/sblock]

The severed arms of several men come to motion. Crawling along with outstrecthed fingers they move towards their living prey. They surround the wizard and warlock. Three of the severed limbs grab at Lorn, two manage to find a hold, scratching and clawing through his robes. Only one finds purchase on the sturdy warlock, a punch in the side of the knee. Their prescence near the pair causes the movement to be hampered.

[sblock=ooc]3 of the crawling claws attack Lorn. Nat 20 to hit. 21 to hit. 15 to hit(miss). Lorn takes 4 damage and is slowed until the beginning of his turn in round 3. 2 attack Thormir. 20 to hit and 10 to hit(miss). Thormir takes 2 damage is is slowed until the beginning of his turn in round 3.[/sblock]

The skeletons hold shortbows, arrows nocked. Pieces of flesh gently fall to the deck, remmants of the flesh they had in life, no longer needed in their current state of undeath. Bowstrings are taut, and arrows are fired at the threats they can see. One arrow clinks off Xandren's armor. Another flies wide of Lorn, splashing into the ocean. The third sinks into Thormir's hip, drawing a curse from the dwarf.

[sblock=ooc]Skeletons shoot shortbows at Xandren(Miss, 12) Lorn(Miss, 8) and Thormir(hit, 16). Thormir takes 4 damage.[/sblock]

Stellan channels the sprit of the panther, but the primal sprits running through him makes his already enraged form more bloodthirsty, and his swing goes off the armor of the hobgoblin.

The smaller goblins close again, their blades flashing. This time, they draw blood, as two of the goblins cackle as the shifter growls at them. Stellan's shield is able to deflect the attacks of the other pair.

[sblock=ooc]Two hits on four attacks. 22 and 21. 9 damage.[/sblock]

The goblin with the staff gestures, and a murky cloud forms around them. The goblins don't seem to be affected, but the hex causes your swings to go awry.

[sblock=ooc]Stellan and Eliza -2 to attacks.[/sblock]

Eliza mutters a string of very unlady-like elven curses, trying to draw the hobgoblin off guard, but all it does it anger the creature further. Eliza calls to Stellan, "Back here, maybe we can swim for it," she says hopefully.

[sblock=ooc]Vicious Mockery at H1. Miss. Majestic Word to Stellan. Slide Stellan 1 square. Stellan can spend a healing surge gain +4 hp and an addtional 4 THP.[/sblock]

The crossbow shooters find their range and the bolts fly true. One hits Stellan in the ribs, the other in the shoulder. How many shots does it take to drop an angry shifter?

[sblock=ooc] 24 and 22 to hit. 9 and 10 damage. Ouch.[/sblock]

The hobgoblin have no fear and they go once again to grab Eliza. The shifter is nearly down, and the pain that he is taking now is no match for what the master of the fire has for him. Their arrogance cost on of them. As it goes to grab Eliza, it takes a heavy axe blow in the shoulder for it. The blow causes the creature to go off balance, and the Eliza slips from it's grasp. The other one, amazed at the shifter's tenacity, watches idly at it's fingers brush at the woman.

[sblock=ooc]W1 attempts grab, Stellan interrupts, hits with a 22 does 13 damage. W1 bloodied. W1 and W2 attempt grabs. Both miss, 13 and 7 vs ref.[/sblock]

One of the goblins that was throwing javelins closes to melee, trying to take down the warden. Stellan deflects it's spear with a hard parry of his axe. The other goblin circles around, and chucks another javelin. Stellan ducks, and the shaft sticks in the soft mud behind him.

[sblock=ooc]8 and 9 to hit. Both miss.[/sblock]

Lorn cried out as the crawling horrors grasped at him.

Stay back, stay back!

Panic was beginning to edge into his voice.

BACK!

He brought up his staff swinging it around to one side then the other unleashing peals of thunder, throwing the abominations every which way.

Creating an opening for himself, he made a break for the cover of the cabin.
