Massachusetts game day July... And a Good Time Was Had by All

Kahuna Burger

First Post
If you would like to come, PLEASE email me at my yahoo adress - Kahuna[underscore]burger73. I will email you back with directions! Tell me which day(s) you will attend and volunteer munchies!

Games are listed below. Sign up or volunteer to run a game at the end of this thread! Listings last updated on 7/12.

The game day is at my house on july 17th and 18th. I live in Attleboro, MA (the next town over from RI, and the house is walking distance from the commuter rail to Boston and Providence). The relevant teasers from the original post not summed up in the schedule:

A cat. If you are allergic, dose or deal. ;) (she's normally not too bad on the sinuses)

A pug. Same as above, but be prepared for some smooched faced loving and don't drop food.

A complete lack of smoking. Aside from my normal feelings on the matter, the hubby will probably take it as an assault on his future offspring and smite. :D

The general schedule:
Saturday
Morning (10ish to noonish) settling in, finalizing last minute game additions, helping KB and hubby do any final moving or arranging, menu choices, grocery runs.

Afternoon (noonish to 3ish) 1st gaming slot, xbox, lunch bbq, Kahuna Burger panics when pug tries to eat a D4.

Late afternoon (3ish to 6ish) 2nd gaming slot, watching The Gamers, Kahuna explains the "no people food for kitty or puggy" rule for 10th time while hubby undermines her authority by 'dropping' meat and claiming dogs are related to goats.

Evening (6ish till everyone leaves) 3rd gaming slot, light dinner foods, more xbox, possible invitation to two or three well behaved guests to crash on the couches so they won't have to drive home and back.

Sunday
Morning (9ish to noonish) 4th gaming slot, continental breakfast (special gaming consideration given to folks who bring donuts), discovery that kahuna's hubby and those supposedly crashing on couches have actually been playing Halo all night and are unconsious on the floor.

Afternoon (noonish to 3ish) 5th gaming slot, more bbq lunch, contest to create best stats, skills and PrCs for puggy.

Late afternoon (3ish to 6ish) 6th gaming slot, discussion of how it went, rescreening The Gamers with the audio comentary by Monte Cook, additional grocery runs as we run out of chips.

Evening (6ish till KB starts kicking everyone out) 7th gaming slot, more xbox, foisting of leftovers, subtle hints that some of us have to work tommorrow, finally Kahuna Burger plays Leonard Nimoy's "Bilbo Baggins" song on a continual loop until the last guests agree to go.

-- o --

The gaming schedule so far. there are four areas: Dinning room, Living room, Kitchen and Study. The living room slot will be filled last to leave the Xbox option open. additional space will be found if absolutely needed.

Slot one - Sat noon

Slot two - Sat 3pm

D. KB's Missing Masters
Run under 3.0 rules (because 3.5 destroyed half of the underlying basis :p) its a pretty casual romp playing the familiars, special mounts and various fuzzy friends of an epic adventuring group gone missing. Much fun is usually had. "Holy cow, none of us have opposable thumbs!"
1. Kira
2. Qualidar
3. Ao the Overkitty?
4.
5.

L. The Gamers (movie)

K.

S. Guedo's D&D Improv

1. Orchid Blossom
2. Evil Kitty Grrl
3. Jesse
4.
5.
6.

Slot three - Sat 6pm

D. KB's The End of the World Timeshare
The End of the World Timeshare will be run under the fast and loose rules of the Fudge system. Plot? Its The End Of The World As We Know It, and I-93 is closed for the democratic national convention. You've got a place to go but only if you can get up north with panic in the streets, looters in the stores and the worst traffic jam in human history. (not to mention that whole imminent death thing hanging over your heads.) The system is minimalist and will be easy to get into.
1. Evil Kitty Grrl
2. KB's Hubby
3. Jesse
4.

Slot four - Sun 9am

D. Piratecat's Spaceship Zero
The crew of the SC Quicksilver is blasting off on a simple test mission. . . but adventure, and the Hydronaut threat, await! A 1950's-style radio drama in RPG form, Green Ronin's Spaceship Zero is my favorite new game. Come find out why. All rules will be taught, no experience needed, and characters will be provided; just show up with dice.
1. Carlzog
2. Thornir Alekeg
3. Qualidar
4. Ao the Overkitty
5.
6.

Slot five - Sun noon

D. Piratecat Special
You may gunslingers riding across the Nebraska plains, or officers piloting warmeks across an irradiated Europe, or troubleshooters sneaking through Alpha Complex, or some other system entirely; I've decided to run a less-played game! Details may be announced here, but otherwise you're going on faith until then. I'll only guarantee it'll be fun. All rules will be taught in any case, no experience needed, and characters will be provided; just show up with dice.

1. Orchid Blossom
2. Sir Osis of Liver
3. Evil Kitty Grrl
4. Baron Starblade
5. Jesse
6.

L.

K.

S. Guedo79's Ravenloft
- FULL
1. Thornir Alekeg
2. KB's Hubby
3. Qualidar
4. Carlzog
5. Starkad

Slot six - Sun 3pm

D. KB's A Discworld Whodunnit
Run under GURPS rules, combat light to non existant, much pratchetty fun. Familiarity with GURPS is completely optional, but some knowlege of the Disc is good. Two of the characters are actually reserved for folks who have read specific books (Small Gods and Hogfather) so that I don't have to constantly give them hints of what they know.
1. guedo79
2. Piratecat
3. Evil Kitty Grrl
4. Conaill

L. The Gamers (with commentary)

K.

S. Starkad's Eberron - a tactical high-combat D&D game

1. Zog
2. Thornir Alekeg
3. Sir Osis of Liver
4. Baron Starblade
5. Jesse

Slot seven - Sun 6pm

D. KB's Bughunt with Soundtrack by Merle Travis.
Mercenary space opera with a twist, under the HERO system.
1. Carlzog
2. Piratecat
3. Baron Starblade
4. Maverick Weirdo

A pug! Pugs are the dog of the New Millennium! :)

mine is a black one, and most people find her particularly cute. ;) but, being as you are listed in boston, did you have any more relevant comments? :p

I'd love to come, but you're talking the week after Picnicon, on the 4th of July weekend, so I think I'm going to be gamed out :(

Balsamic Dragon

ok, see, this is the kind of input I'm looking for. ;)

I checked the boston gamers group for when picnicon was, but couldn't find any mention of it. So between the weekend of the 10th and the one of the 17th, you would perfer the 17th? Or does the existance of picnicon make the month of july in general to gaming intensive for bostonians?

(also if you can send me a link for the timing and location of picnicon this year, that would be cool, I had a good time last year until the overcatted household caught up to me... )

If I can possibly make it I'd LOVE to, but July is a bear for me. I have commitments every weekend from July 3rd to the 24th. Sunday July 18th is still free, at least.

well, there you go. Since sunday will be the primary day with a saterday added if interest is high enough (I work saterday, normally), and considering the draw of a peg legged kitty at any gaming event, I declare KahunaCon '04 to be Sunday July 18th in Attleboro massachusetts. (exact address to be given out in private email to those who wish to attend.) Some down time from picnicon, but still more than a month before my due date...

Hmmm, mapquest tells me that Attleboro is under 3 hours away. That sounds workable. Depending on what is going on I may be able to get a car load from Albany to come play.

Edit:

I'd also be happy to run a slot if you'll have me.
