MD-VA-DC Game Day - 10/2/04: Crunch Time Approaches - Volunteers Needed!

Game Event

I've started to plan the game for this event.

I am using "Lime" as my color, so those wanting to sign up for this game (once sign-ups are allowed) should use "Lime" as well.

DM: D'karr

SLOT: Morning

GAME: "Tendara - City of the Damned" - D&D 3.5 (Cthulhu Influence)

TEASER: A map and a key have been found. A scribbled note on the map pikes your interest, "the Eye of Evecor." Hidden within the depths of the Korrada Swamp lies the lost city of Tendara. Rumored to have once been the home of an ancient race, it now lies in ruins. Legends speak of the terrible horrors awakened on the "Night of the Whispering Winds". Perhaps these horrors caused its destruction. Perhaps they still occupy the city. The recently unveiled map and key offer the only hints to ever enter this elusive city. Rumors abound of the great treasures lying within the city. One rumor in particular is of significance, "Lost deep within the unplundered treasure vaults of Tendara lies the gem known as the Eye of Evecor..."

NUMBER OF PLAYERS: 4-6

NUMBER OF OPEN PLAYER SLOTS: 6

PC TYPES/LEVELS: Pre-generated characters of levels 6-7

GAME RATINGS (SCALE OF 1 - 10):

  • Action = 8
  • Role-Playing = 6
  • Puzzles/Mystery = 7

MATURITY RATING: PG-13 (Due to some violence, Duh! LOL)

SPECIAL NOTES: This is a D&D 3.5 game with heavy influences from Call of Cthulhu.

Pregenerated characters will be provided. Bring your dice, a desire to play and a good attitude.

Familiarity with the 3.5 ruleset is recommended but not necessary.

I'm currently setup as a backup DM so availability of this adventure will be dependent on the final schedule. I plan on having a sequel for this adventure for the evening session but that will also be dependent on the final schedule.

DRM,

Can we set it up so that vendors (if any) just pay an honorarium/make a donations, which is used to pay for the room...so we don't have worry about money changing hands at the event period?

That would keep things nice and clean...

~ Old One

The vendors would still be selling items. That would require security.

DM's - Please Post Teasers...

DMs...If you have not already done so, please post the "Teaser" for your MD-VA-DC Game Day games...

Thanks!

~ Old One

PS - Once we have most of these...I will start a separate Sign-up Thread so players can start signing up for games.

Teaser #2

Well, here is the teaser for the evening session.

I am using "Deep Sky Blue" as my color, so those wanting to sign up for this game (once sign-ups are allowed) should use "Deep Sky Blue" as well.

SLOT: Afternoon (evening)

GAME: "Escape from the City of the Damned" - D&D 3.5 (Cthulhu Influence)

TEASER: You have recovered the Eye of Evecor but nothing is as it seems. The sky shifts colors, a strong wind develops from the north and a loud shrieking howl pierces the silence of this stony hall. Is this what the ancients encountered on the "Night of the Whispering Wind?" After encountering countless horrors and besting them, is it possible you have awakened something that was never meant to be? Now you must escape from the City of the Damned before it is too late.

NUMBER OF PLAYERS: 4-6

NUMBER OF OPEN PLAYER SLOTS: 6

PC TYPES/LEVELS: Pre-generated characters of levels 7-8

GAME RATINGS (SCALE OF 1 - 10):

  • Action = 8
  • Role-Playing = 6
  • Puzzles/Mystery = 7

MATURITY RATING: PG-13 (Due to some violence, Duh! LOL)

SPECIAL NOTES: This is a D&D 3.5 game with heavy influences from Call of Cthulhu.

Pregenerated characters will be provided. Bring your dice, a desire to play and a good attitude.

Familiarity with the 3.5 ruleset is recommended but not necessary. This is
a continuation of the previous adventure "Tendara - City of the Damned". However, no previous knowledge of that adventure is required.

GAME: The United Annual #1 "Boiling Over" - Mutants and Masterminds

TEASER: Regardless of anyone's personal feelings, nearly everyone agreed on one thing: the supernatural known as Glory kept the lid on the pot. Seemingly more powerful than any other supernatural on Earth, his constant vigilance mitigated the worst of supernatural threats. There's only one problem: he isn't around anymore. He and his satellite headquarters haven't been seen for days. In anticipation of the troubles to come, his grandson has formed the United, named for Glory's previous society of justice seekers. Made up of the descendants of supernaturals, they seek to hold the lid down, and live up to the legacies they've inheirited.
This is their first day on the job...

NUMBER OF PLAYERS: 4 to 6

NUMBER OF OPEN PLAYER SLOTS: 6

PC TYPES/LEVELS: Pre-generated characters PLs 10-12

GAME RATINGS (SCALE OF 1 - 10):

Action = 9 or 10 (four-color butt-kickin' mayhem!)
Role-Playing = 5
Puzzles/Mystery = 4

MATURITY RATING: PG-13 (Fantasy Violence, mild language - although this will certainly be kept appropriate to the ages of the players and those at the tables around us.)

SPECIAL NOTES: This is a four-color adaptation of my own world, set on present day Earth, but with superheroes (natch). All are welcome, regardless of experience with the ruleset. This adventure is intended to emulate the style of villian-packed annuals. Some story, but most of the roleplay will come from PC interaction, and the puzzle/mystery stuff is there to connect the fights. ;)
